On the Monday, October 13th episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis demands Cane’s AI program in exchange for her help, Kyle pushes Victoria for Claire’s location, and Nick races to L.A.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

At Newman Media, Adam and Chelsea informed Nick about a rumor that Arabesque had put deals on hold because of their exposé. Nick figured that he was no longer needed there, so he could join Sharon in L.A. He reported that Noah hadn’t been returning Sharon’s calls, and he was determined to get there – whether Victor liked it or not. Adam assured Nick that they would cover for him.
Nick mentioned that something had seemed off with Noah. Chelsea recalled when she and Adam had been on edge during Connor’s OCD treatment. Adam remarked that Connor had gotten through it, and so would Noah. Nick thought he would feel better once he saw and talked to Noah himself, and he headed out to tell Victor about the trip in person. Adam doubted that his father would like it.
At the new Newman ranch, Victoria, Nikki, and Victoria marveled at how quickly the news release had blown up. Victor expected Cane to try to restore his reputation, and he hesitated to declare it a win yet. After Victoria left, Nikki inquired whether Jack had been involved in the decision to launch the article. Victor clarified that Jack’s only purpose was to convince Jill to help prevent Cane from doing something stupid.
Nick arrived and announced that he’d booked a flight to L.A. to join Sharon and see Noah. Nick added that he wasn’t asking for permission, since it seemed like something was going on with Noah, and Sharon hadn’t been able to reach their son. Victor urged Nick to allow Noah to solve his problems on his own, and he preferred that Nick stay home. Nick and Nikki couldn’t believe Victor was digging in his heels.
Victor suspected that Nick was overreacting to what was happening with Noah. Nick retorted that Victor was doing the same thing by treating Cane like the bogeyman. Nick griped that he was sick of letting Cane dominate every moment of their lives when Cane might not do anything. Victor anticipated that Cane would feel emboldened as long as he had the AI software, and he wanted to stand up against Cane as a family.
Nick contended that his son needed him, and he could always jump on a video call or fly back. Nikki agreed that she was more concerned about Noah than about Cane. Victor conceded that Noah was more important, and he gave Nick his blessing. Nick answered a call from Sharon, who sobbed that he needed to get there because it was like Cassie happening all over again.
Sharon cried that she was at the hospital because Noah had been in a really bad car accident. Sharon begged Nick to get there soon because she and Noah needed him. Nick promised he’d get there as fast as he could, and Victor offered Nick the Newman jet. Nick raced out, and Victor consoled Nikki.
At Society, Adam and Chelsea canoodled on a couch and reveled in there being no crises or deadlines. They reflected on the two years it had been since Connor’s diagnosis and how they’d become closer than ever. They kissed, and Chelsea contemplated whether Nick and Sharon were also getting closer. Adam grumbled that Sharon always seemed to get hurt when she and Nick were a couple.
Victoria approached and explained that she was there to grab takeout for her and the kids. She received a text message from Katie with a reminder about the teens having dinner with Billy that night. Chelsea and Adam invited Victoria to join them, and Victoria admitted that she could use the company. Victoria confided that she heard people talking, but she found herself not listening, and she needed to snap out of it.
Chelsea sympathized that Victoria was going through a hard time. Victoria shared that she got lonely sometimes, and she was glad she’d run into them. Adam jokingly bet Victoria had never thought she’d ever say that to him. Victoria mentioned that Claire had gone on a trip to L.A. with Holden, and Chelsea called him a bit of an operator. Chelsea inquired whether Kyle and Claire had split up, and Victoria replied that it was complicated.
Victoria added that Claire needed time to think, but she conceded that her daughter going on vacation with a near-stranger wasn’t the best idea. “I couldn’t agree more,” Kyle chimed in. Kyle asked to speak to Victoria in private, and they stepped aside. Adam guessed that Kyle was feeling desperate and would do whatever it took to get back in the game.
Chelsea’s phone chimed, and she revealed that the exposé on Cane was hitting the international platforms. Adam crowed that everyone thought Cane and Colin were dirtbags who had accumulated their wealth by scamming unsuspecting old ladies. Chelsea imagined there would be no way for Cane to recover. Adam mused that it would take a miracle.
Meanwhile, Kyle informed Victoria that he’d decided to go to L.A. because he couldn’t sit around and let his relationship with Claire die. Victoria intended to keep her promise to Claire to stay out of it, and she reminded him that Claire had requested time and space. Kyle argued that he wouldn’t have a problem if Claire were in L.A. by herself, but he didn’t see how she’d figure out her feelings with a player around.
Kyle insisted that Holden was bad news, and he asked Victoria to tell him where Claire was staying in L.A. Victoria balked at giving Kyle the information. Kyle scoffed at the idea that Holden was just showing Claire around town, but Victoria maintained that Claire had made her decision. Kyle argued that Claire wasn’t thinking straight, and he pleaded with Victoria to help him find her.
Phyllis led Cane to the jazz club bar. Cane preferred the scotch on his train, but Phyllis stressed that they were there on her terms to discuss changing his image. Cane anticipated that Victor and Adam’s portrayal of him as an “evil, greedy bastard” wouldn’t just go away. Cane expected that Victor would have his lawsuit tied up in court for years, but he needed something big and immediate to change the way people thought about him.
Phyllis found it strange that Cane had turned to her for help rebuilding his image when he’d initially wanted to work with her because she got down and dirty with the best of them. She wondered if he’d hit rock bottom. Cane swore he was down but not out, and he’d hired her because she was smart, savvy, and adaptable. Phyllis suspected that he was jerking her around once again.
Cane insisted that he wasn’t playing games, but Phyllis referred to the numerous times he’d radically changed his plans. Phyllis pointed out that the article hadn’t been kind about her, either. Cane was sorry she was collateral damage, but he considered it more reason to revamp his reputation. Cane asserted that the only thing that mattered to him was proving to Lily and the twins that he wasn’t a monster, and he needed Phyllis’ help to do it – fast.
Cane noted that Phyllis knew what it was like to lose the trust and respect of her kids, but she’d made him believe he could turn things around. Phyllis inquired about his plan to do so, and Cane admitted that he only had an idea about how to appear more heroic. Cane envisioned using his AI program to do something positive that would impress people rather than scare them.
Phyllis balked at using the AI to change Cane’s reputation, and she suggested that he make a large charitable donation instead. She reminded him that they’d intended to use the software to get something for themselves, and he reasoned that it could get him a new reputation and elevate him in the public eye. Cane snapped that everything he’d created was at risk, and he'd told Phyllis over and over that he’d give it all up to reconnect with Lily and his kids. Cane demanded to know if Phyllis would help him or not.
Phyllis scoffed at the thought of using the AI software for the greater good, but Cane reasoned that it beat giving it to Victor. Phyllis questioned whether those were the only choices, and she asked what had happened to them using the program to get something from the people who hated them. Cane was adamant about using it to clean up his image so he could look people in the eye again. Phyllis barked that Billy was right, and Cane didn’t know who he was or what he was doing from one minute to the next. Cane ordered Phyllis to help him, or he’d find someone who would.
Phyllis chased after Cane to the Athletic Club foyer, grousing that he didn’t get to demand something from her and run off. He refused to sit around and beg. Phyllis ranted that he’d gotten to the top and become a billionaire, and he was just like the rest of them who wanted to use her for her talents and then discard her. She dared him to give the job to someone else when no one wanted to work for him.
Phyllis proclaimed that the only one standing next to Cane was her, but she didn’t like the way he was treating her. Cane admitted he needed her, and he asked what he could do to prove it to her. Phyllis demanded the AI program, but Cane didn’t feel comfortable handing it over. Phyllis leaned in close and whispered that she couldn’t believe he didn’t trust her after all that time.
Phyllis purred that Cane had been right to turn to her, since she was not just a computer whiz, but she was also the only one in town who could save him from being an outcast. Cane instructed her to brainstorm some hypothetical scenarios first, and he’d consider giving her full access to the software. She seductively asked if that was the best he could do, and he moved in even closer. “For now, yes,” he replied.
Phyllis and Cane hovered inches apart for a moment. She smirked and said she’d be in touch, and she looked back at him as she headed out. Cane called Lily and left a voicemail, saying he’d just wanted to hear her voice.
