Amanda blasted Phyllis for tipping their hand to Cane/Dumas and not accurately representing her career goals. The attorney accused her of being narcissistic and selfish. Amanda pointed out that Phyllis made Cane think she was going to attempt some big power play. Phyllis apologized. "I don't think before I act," she said. Phyllis informed her pal that she'd overheard a conversation that would change everything. She said that Amanda was part of that conversation.

Phyllis told Amanda she'd heard her talking with Dumas's assistant, Carter. Phyllis said that she knew Cane had a way on and off the property, and she heard Amanda and Carter talking about Cane getting back from Genoa City. Phyllis wondered why Cane would want to leave France when everyone he wanted to do business with was there. Amanda doubted Phyllis was putting anything together.

Phyllis whispered that Cane didn't want to do business with anyone there; he had wanted to do business against them. "That's been the plan from the start, right?" Phyllis asked. Amanda mused that Cane simply wanted to go home. She cautioned Phyllis that she might be shooting herself in the foot if she continued down that path.

Amanda said Phyllis was the best in the world at causing trouble. Phyllis felt she wasn't being given a lot of options. The redhead said she wouldn't tell anyone that Cane has been going back and forth between France and Genoa City. Amanda informed Phyllis that what she was suggesting sounded a lot like blackmail. Phyllis was taken aback by Amanda's accusation. She kept telling Amanda that they were friends. Amanda pointed out that Cane is only considering Phyllis. She didn't care that Phyllis thought she was lying about Cane's whereabouts.

Phyllis marveled that Cane went to Genoa City and came back right away. Amanda played dumb as to whether or not that ever happened. Phyllis said that Amanda should tell her because she is her friend. Amanda asked if they were talking about Phyllis, who both eavesdropped on her and was now attempting to blackmail her. Then, Cane appeared. He asked Phyllis how far she'd be willing to go to stay on her team.

Nikki noted to Victor in the private train car that they were essentially prisoners as the roads were closed, the train tracks weren't working, and there was no cell service. She wondered why Victor didn't seem rattled. Victor threw out the idea of asking Cane to join forces with them. Just then, Cane entered their car. "Your timing couldn't be better," Victor announced. The mogul commented that Cane was absent on the previous night.

Cane shared that his guests would be able to leave soon. He was surprised that Victor and Nikki weren't anxious to leave. Victor said it was a new day, but he still had his suspicions. Victor revealed he didn't believe that Cane was truly over wanting to get Chancellor. He advised him to get over his obsession. Cane shrugged that Lily lived her life, and he led his. Nikki gently said that it was clear that Cane still cared about Lily. Victor advised that they cut to the chase. He said, "Chancellor will never be yours!" However, Victor said he did suggest a proposition to Cane.

Meanwhile, Nick lamented to his mother that he couldn't get in touch with Christian or Cole. He also pointed out that Sharon couldn't get in contact with Mariah. Nick said he wanted to go. She added she might join him in his attempt to leave, but Victor may not. Nikki said Victor may try to ally himself with Cane. Nikki said that Cane wanted Chancellor and wasn't sure if he was giving up on that goal. Nikki worried that Victor would ask Cane to go after Jabot. Nick noted that would be a classic Victor move.

Victor and Cane walked together in the maze of shrubbery. Victor admitted to being stunned as to what Cane had accomplished financially in the time he was away from Genoa City. The mogul pointed out that the late Colin was a conman, and he wondered how much of that was in his son.

Cane was taken aback that Victor would compare him to Colin. Victor asked Cane to take a seat, and he suggested that they ally with one another. Later, Victor joined Nikki and Nick in their train car. He told them that both he and Cane kept their cards close to their vests.

Meanwhile, Cane came upon Phyllis and Amadan, who were in the courtyard, and he asked what had gone on between them. Both women reported that things were fine. Phyllis tried to convince Cane that she knew all the players and wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty. Cane said there would be personal stakes involved. "Who would you be willing to betray?" a cryptic Cane asked. "Billy Abbott. Jack. Let me make it a little bit hard for you...Would you betray Nick?"

Phyllis dodged Cane's question. He said he would need to completely trust her not to go to any of her many exes with sensitive communications. Phyllis asked what Cane was going after. He suggested she connect the dots. Phyllis couldn't quite put it all together. Cane told her to think bigger. He wanted them all -- Abbott Communications, Jabot Cosmetics, Chancellor Industries, and even Newman Enterprises. Cane wanted to know what Phyllis thought about that.

Phyllis asked if Cane was kidding. She didn't know what to say. Amanda pointed out that Cane had rendered Phyllis speechless. Then, Phyllis said that she was on board and that nothing was unattainable. Phyllis promised to be right there by his side. Cane asked about her friends. Phyllis pointed out that Billy threw her under a bus and that Jack would understand business. Cane asked Phyllis if she could betray Nick. "Even Nick," Phyllis replied.

Adam made a dramatic entrance into the train car where Nikki, Victor, and Nick had assembled. They were amazed to see him there. Adam told his shocked family that it wasn't easy to get there. Nick got his half-brother some water. Adam filled his family in on the efforts he took to get to them. Adam was surprised to learn that no one had stepped inside Cane's chateau. "So, how did you get here?" Nick asked. Adam said he walked a dirt path up a mountain. It took him three hours. Adam informed his family that Cole had been transported to Genoa City Memorial. Nikki hoped that was a good sign. She suggested that if Adam could walk up the hill, then they could walk down.

Adam said that he came all this way to France to inform them of the business deals that were going on in Genoa City since they were away. Victor said that Dumas was Cane. Adam said that Dumas, being Cane, was second on his and Chelsea's list of suspects as to who the mystery man could be. Adam thought Dumas was Colin Atkinson, Cane's father. Adam shared that a lot of properties had been bought up in town while they were away. He added that some divisions of Chancellor Industries that Nikki had sold off after taking charge of the company had been purchased, too. Victor said that he knew something was up. Nikki pointed out that those divisions that Chancellor Industries got rid of were redundant. Victor pointed out that they likely had some value to Cane.

Adam shared with his family that Cane was in Genoa City yesterday. "In other words, there is a way out of here," Victor said. Nick said that it was time for him to confront Cane and for everyone else to get a way out of there. Adam theorized that Victor had a plan. Victor said that Cane has been playing his game so far. "Let's see how he does when he starts playing my game," Victor mused.
