At Crimson Lights, Chelsea asked Cane what he was doing in Genoa City. He said he lost himself for a bit, but now he’s ready to take over the world. Chelsea cheerfully grilled Cane over what he’d been up to since he left town. Cane asked about Connor. Chelsea asked about Mattie and Charlie, and if Cane was there to see Lily. Cane dodged and said Lily was out of town, meeting Aristotle Dumas. Chelsea was surprised that Adam knew who Dumas was.

“You’ve actually met the man?” Chelsea asked. Cane said he had. Chelsea shared what she knew about Dumas. She asked Cane how he knew Lily was in France, and if the Newman family should be worried about Dumas.

Chelsea theorized that the bad weather in France could be the reason no one has heard anything. Cane said he had to leave for the airport, but that her questions about Dumas would be answered soon. Cane told Chelsea to give her best to Adam, and he’d be back in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, at Adam’s office, Victoria informed her half-brother that Cole has Legionnaire’s disease, but he hasn’t responded to any treatments. She added that he was back at Memorial Hospital in Genoa City. Vicki shared that she wished she could get rid of that knot in her stomach. Adam was very supportive of Victoria.

She agreed with Adam that it was unsettling that no one had heard from Victor. Vicki theorized that if something bad had happened, they would have heard. Adam and Vicki agreed that not hearing from everyone could be written off as bad cell phone service. Still, Vicki didn’t like it. Adam said he was sure they were all fine. But he wondered why no one could reach out.

Adam and Victoria agreed that Victor would be one step ahead of Dumas. Then, Adam shared with Vicki that Dumas’s real estate company was buying up properties left and right in Genoa City, including the Genoa City Athletic Club. He added that Dumas’s company purchased divisions of Chancellor that Nikki sold when she took over Chancellor. Victoria asked what all this meant. Adam said he didn’t know. Vicki wondered how all of this affected everyone else.

Adam advised Vicki to focus on Cole. She told him that it meant a lot and thanked him for staying behind while the rest of the family went to France. The two bantered a bit. Vicki said Adam honestly deserved it and Victor would be pleased. They agreed that getting praise from Victor was always tough. Adam said he was sorry Victoria was going through the ordeal with Cole.

Then, Chelsea entered. She asked Vicki how Cole was. Vicki said she’d let Adam fill her in. She was on her way back to the hospital with Claire to see Cole. After Victoria left, Adam told Chelsea that Dumas’s company bought the GCAC. Chelsea let Adam know that she ran into Cane Ashby and that he was unclear. She said the whole encounter with him was strange. “He just seemed different,” Chelsea observed.

Chelsea remained suspicious of Cane. She playfully conceded that people can change like Adam did. Still, she was curious as to how Cane knew Lily was out of town and how he knew Dumas. Chelsea added that Cane said any questions they have about Dumas will be answered soon. Adam said it sounded like Cane truly does know who the guy is.

Adam said there was no buzz or social media presence about Dumas despite his big party. He wondered how Cane and Dumas ever met. Chelsea wondered if Cane and Dumas knew each other before Dumas became famous. Adam said that Dumas came on the scene six years ago. Chelsea said that’s about the time Cane left town. Adam suggested that Aristotle was Cane’s dad, Colin. Adam and Chelsea theorized there was a connection between Cane’s return and the real estate acquisitions made by Dumas. Adam addedthat there were too many unanswered questions.

Chelsea wondered what Victor would do with the little information they had. She wondered what they could do, as no one was returning their calls. Adam said he was going to fly to France to see Victor in person.

Meanwhile, back in Nice, Amanda ran into Devon in the maze of shrubbery. Amanda asked what a nice guy like him was doing in a maze like this. She asked where Abby was. Devon said she was asleep. Devon said he didn’t need fluffier pillows or more towels, but he could use some answers. He asked where Cane was. Amanda didn’t know. Devon asked what the whole trip was about.

Amanda felt that Cane made everything clear. He revealed himself. Devon wondered why Cane didn’t just show up in Genoa City and reintroduce himself. Amanda said people might not have believed him. Devon pointed out that Cane hasn’t even shown up for the dinners he's supposed to be hosting. Amanda pointed out that not even billionaires can control the weather. Devon insisted that it felt like everyone had been lied to.

Amanda said Cane revealed everything. Devon countered he hadn’t given a reason for creating the Dumas persona. Devon reminded Amanda about Cane pretending to be Phillip Chancellor III, and then he pretended to be dead. He added that perhaps Colin put this whole idea in Cane’s head. Devon asked if this was about Cane trying to win Lily back. Amanda said Cane never said it was about that. “None of this makes sense,” Devon said. “Maybe he wanted to get us all here so we would scramble around trying to figure out what he’s up to when, in reality, he’s just distracting us so he could put something completely different in motion.”

Amanda wondered why – even if this were true – she’d reveal any of this to Devon. She asked why she should be loyal to him. Devon felt they’d made inroads. Amanda said Devon had no right to point the finger at her. Devon apologized. He conceded she owed her nothing. Devon suggested she take a step back and look at what she was doing there. He told her she was smart and honorable and deserved more than to be taken in by a two-bit con artist.

Amanda said she would know if Cane was setting her up. Devon recalled that Amanda didn’t know that Colin had used her to get his fortune. Devon said he could be her ally. Amanda asked if Devon thought she was truly going down. She accused Devon of thinking the worst. Devon walked away from Amanda.

Next, Devon got into bed with Abby. They snuggled. She lamented not being able to reach Dominic. Devon said it was as if they were in a prison that had no bars. Abby recalled being Lily’s maid of honor when she and Cane remarried. She confessed that the secrecy had creeped her out. Abby asked Devon if he’d talked to Cane. He said no. Devon said he’d had a drink with Amanda. Abby said she didn’t like the sound of that.

Devon assured Abby he was on a fact-finding mission with Amanda. She asked if he’d found any facts. Devon said he tried to show Amanda that he was concerned about her hitching her cart to Cane. Abby asked if Devon’s concern made an impact. Devon didn’t think so. He added that he didn’t want to talk about Amanda, Cane, or Dumas. “What do you suggest we do instead?” Abby playfully asked. Devon pointed out that they hadn’t enjoyed much of being in France. The two kissed and snuggled into bed.

Meanwhile, Carter informed Amanda in the maze of shrubbery that Cane was on his way back. Carter assured Amanda that Cane did what he needed to do during his trip. Carter and Amanda were unaware that Phyllis was hiding behind a shrub, eavesdropping.

Vicki met Claire at Crimson Lights. Vicki brought her daughter some tea. She said they both have to stay strong for Cole. Claire said she was still worried. She wanted to know why Cole wasn’t getting better.

Victoria suggested that Claire go home and get some rest. She added that they have to trust the doctors. Claire wondered how she could trust the doctors when they didn’t catch what was truly wrong with Cole in the beginning. Then, Vicki received a call from the hospital. Vicki and Claire left for the hospital right away.

Claire and Victoria showed up at Cole’s bedside. He was sleeping. Vicki told her daughter to be strong. She leaned in to tell Cole that she and Claire were there. Claire told her dad to get better. Cole woke up and told Victoria and Claire that they had made it just in time.
