What happened on The Young and the Restless

At Crimson Lights, Lily felt as if Cane relished a bit too much in the idea of people seeing them arrive at the launch party together. Lily told Cane that the price to be her plus one was that he needed to embrace the cool factor of the retro 50s theme. She didn't want any drama at the event. No public scenes could occur, and he promised that she wouldn't regret her decision. Cane wanted it to be an official date more than anything, but Lily insisted that it was strictly platonic.
Cane thought the entire non-date would be fun, even if people believed Lily lost her mind by allowing him to tag along. Jokes aside, Cane assured her that there were no expectations as they headed into the event. After Lily left to get ready for the party, Phyllis walked in, asking why he'd be seeing his ex later than night. Cane informed her that his actions were none of her business. Despite her curiosity, he told her to back off.
Cane refused to engage with Phyllis, but she couldn't help but wonder why Cane and Lily were seemingly in a better place. He didn't think they had anything left to say to each other, and her lack of honesty confirmed to him that she stole his program. Her careless actions led Victor to turn the tables and use the AI software on Cane instead. Cane gave Phyllis every opportunity in the world to come clean, and her refusal to do so ended any connection they may have had.
Phyllis offered to tell Cane the truth, but it was too little, too late. She waited too long, and he wasn't interested. Coming clean this late in the game would only fuel his suspicions against her. Their argument spilled outside onto the patio, and an enraged Phyllis finally exposed herself as the person who stole the program. She accused him of lying about any potential collaboration between them, and claimed she used him to get what she wanted.
Cane accused Phyllis of stealing from others to get everything she had. He didn’t think she'd ever be successful on her own in a legitimate way. She tried to slap him, and instead, the two shared a passionate kiss outside of Crimson Lights.
Audra appeared shaken by Holden's threat after recounting a bit of what went down between them. The feeling prompted her to flash back to her time in Los Angeles, filling in more of the gaps about what took place between them. In the memory, Holden spotted Audra at The Shadow Room and looked visibly concerned to see her. Sienna offered to stay, so Holden had backup to deal with her, but he declined. Sienna clearly knew who Audra was, but once she was gone, Audra tried to explain her actions to Holden.
Audra revealed that the man called the police, and she was concerned she'd be arrested at the airport because her name was flagged. She hoped giving Holden one hundred thousand dollars would give him an incentive to help her get out of town. Back in the present, Audra left a voicemail for Sally explaining why she couldn't attend the event, and apologizing for taking Kyle's rage bait. After the call, she thought back to the events that unfolded in Los Angeles.
Audra appreciated how Holden came through for her and helped her through the situation with the man she stole the money from. She wanted to leave for London, so she needed a new passport to do so. Audra assumed that Holden was well-connected enough to secure that for her. He didn't want to get involved. The man had come in multiple times to search for Audra, and he planned to make her life miserable if he didn't get his money back. However, the man returned to the club and overheard Audra and Holden discussing him.
Audra tried to downplay everything as a "small misunderstanding," but the man wouldn't listen. He waited for her to resurface so he could get his hands on the money. Her memory was interrupted by Lily, who was surprised to see Audra at the bar, not in costume for the event. Lily remarked that Audra lost another job, this time one that was handed to her by her best friend. She wondered why Audra remained in Genoa City since nobody liked her, and she had no professional prospects.
The women fought over Audra and Nate's failed relationship, but Audra wouldn't rehash it. She told Lily, "The more you try to break me down, the stronger I get." Audra recalled her childhood and explained that no one ever came to her rescue. She demanded Lily get out of her face, so she could enjoy her drink. Nate interrupted the argument and asked if there was a problem between the two women.
Audra defended herself to Nate, but she assured them that she'd go out of her way to avoid their family in the future. As she stormed away, she looked at Lily and said, "You're going to be sorry that you crossed me." Nate seemed conflicted by the tense moment.
After she left, she fled to Chancellor Park and remembered how Nate used to believe in her, but she wouldn't give anyone the satisfaction of seeing her hurt. She thought back to Los Angeles and how Holden attacked the man who returned to her for his money. Holden wanted her to return the money, but she quickly realized that Holden accidentally killed the man amid the scuffle.
At Sharon's house, Noah insisted that Sienna remain in Genoa City. It was the only way to keep her safe from Matt. She tried to convince him that it was best, but he recalled how he had already tried to kill her once. Sienna understood where he was coming from, and her mind was made up. Noah refused to allow her to leave town, with her murderous husband on the loose. Sharon understood her son's concern, but he couldn't force Sienna to stay put.
Nick believed Sienna should remain in Genoa City until they locate Matt. Sienna disagreed. If Matt was going to show up in Genoa City next, it made sense for her to avoid town because she wouldn't be in his path. For Sienna, staying in town only made her more accessible to the ongoing threat of her husband's thirst for vengeance. She demanded that Noah stop treating her like she was delicate and needed his protection. Sienna viewed herself as a formidable threat against him, who could handle herself.
Despite not knowing her husband's previous actions as Matt, Sienna believed she had an idea of how to handle him. She didn't think Noah needed to protect her, and she wanted to spare him from further danger. Noah didn't want to lose her. He pleaded with her to stay. Although Sienna told Noah it wouldn't be his fault if something horrible occurred, he asked her to reconsider. He wondered why she had suddenly changed her mind. Noah noticed that something shifted in the short amount of time that he and Nick had been gone.
Noah asked Sharon if she was responsible for Sienna's newfound desire to flee Genoa City as soon as possible. Sienna cut Sharon off before she could stumble through a response. She appeased everyone's concern, but she needed to do what was best for herself. Noah asked for some privacy to speak to Sienna without Nick and Sharon lurking.
Once they left, he pleaded with her to help him understand. He offered to come with her if she truly needed to leave town. Noah revealed that he'd fallen in love with her, and she confessed the same. However, she thought their love would be the worst thing for both parties.
Outside, Nick admitted he understood both sides, but Sharon confessed that she caused Sienna's change of heart. She confessed that she had a direct conversation with Sienna about the fate of her relationship with Noah. Nick asked what the conversation was about.
After giving him the rundown, Nick had a better understanding of why Sienna suddenly needed to escape Genoa City. Despite having conflicting feelings about Sienna, Nick wanted her to stay, so they could increase the chances of catching Matt in action. They returned inside, and Noah revealed that Sienna was not going anywhere. The episode's closing moments showed Matt arriving at the GCAC and saying, "Forgot how much I hate this place."
