When the show debuted on CBS earlier this year, it shot to wide acclaim for its fresh take on the Sherlock Holmes lore and for its perfect mix of detective and medical drama genres. In the new season, Sherlock will be entering the scene after being presumed dead for over a year.
Watson Season 2 will premiere at 10 PM ET/PT on Monday. Here is all you need to know about the season premiere, including its release, streaming, and plot details.

The storyline of Watson Season 2 Episode 1
The episode is going to mark a much-anticipated moment for the audience as Sherlock Holmes makes his debut in the show. Robert Carlyle is going to play the role of the iconic detective. While Watson moved to Pittsburgh and restarted his medical practice after the supposed death of Sherlock, he is now going to realize that his friend and companion is alive.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Dr. Watson will be dealing with the case of Elizabeth Morstan, the mother of his estranged wife, Mary Morstan. Elizabeth suffers from dementia and accidentally poisons herself, after which Watson and his team have to save her. The official logline for the first episode reads:
“Watson and the fellows spring back into action when Mary's mother accidentally poisons herself while suffering from a rare form of dementia that is progressing with impossible speed; Sherlock Holmes resurfaces after being presumed dead.”
The new season brings back Morris Chestnut as John Hamish Watson. He is joined by Eve Harlow as Ingrid Derian, Rochelle Aytes as Mary Morstan, Ritchie Coster as Shinwell Johnson, Inga Schlingmann as Sasha Lubbock, and Peter Mark Kendall as Stephens Croft and Adam Croft.
Juanita Jennings is going to play Elizabeth Morstan. Randall Park, who played Professor James Moriarty in the first season, might not appear in the show anymore due to his character’s death in the story.
