Jensen Ackles recently opened up to PEOPLE about what it felt like being on set with Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins after years of filming Supernatural.

In his own words;

"It was quite an experience."

So what made this on-set reunion special? The history, the chemistry, and the rhythm that came from 15 years of working side by side. It wasn't just a reunion.

It felt like picking up right where they left off and this time, with a deeper sense of gratitude, this time, and a little bit of laughter thrown in.

A friendship that outlived the show and returned to the screen from Jensen Ackles to Jared Padalecki to Misha Collins

Jensen Ackles might have moved on from demon hunting, but the bond he shared with Padalecki as his brother and Collins hasn't faded. While speaking with PEOPLE, Ackles revealed,

"We see each other more often than you would think — honestly, at least once a month."

That closeness didn't disappear with the end of Supernatural. If anything, their connection strengthened, making their on-screen reunion something personal.

When the trio stepped onto a new set, Ackles admitted it felt strange at first. Jensen Ackles added,

"It was like inviting my friends over to somebody else's house for dinner...I was like, 'Listen, guys, don't make me look bad. I got to stay here."

Still, the comfort between them quickly returned. He described the moment simply:

"It was quite an experience."

From roommates in their early days to now sharing scenes in a completely different series, the transition wasn't about learning to work together again. It was about bringing back the trust and timing that had always worked.

As Ackles put it while speaking to Collider about Jared Padalecki,

"He's the best. You can put us two in front of anything; we'll get the job done."

Now it truly seems that their bond hasn't ended.

From Supernatural to The Boys: Familiar faces in unexpected places

Jensen Ackles first joined The Boys as Soldier Boy in Season 3, but as the final season approaches, he's not the only Supernatural alum walking onto that set. With Eric Kripke as the creator, familiar people started showing up again.

Padalecki and Collins are expected to have roles that are still unknown at present, but the noise around their reunion with Ackles has been building at speed.

For Jensen Ackles, this moment brings things full circle. The actor who once played Dean Winchester now finds himself in a darker, bloodier world but still surrounded by the same people who helped shape his career.

Ackles told Collider, referring to Padalecki,

"There's a reason he and I did that show for 15 years...We truly got along, we truly enjoy working together, and we're effectively brothers in real life, too."

Even though Supernatural met its end in 2020 after 300+ episodes, the cast hasn't gone their separate ways. Whether it's being seen on Walker, casual catching up, or now, having a reunion on The Boys, it's clear that what started off as just a TV gig soon turned into something bigger and deeper.

In Ackles's words, they're not just co-stars. They're part of each other's stories, on and off camera.

Jensen Ackles reuniting with Padalecki and Collins isn't just a callback to their days as the Winchester brothers on Supernatural. It was a moment filled with warmth and shared history. Describing it as an "experience" says everything about the kind of bond that outlives scripts and studios.

For fans, it's a reminder that some stories don't end, but rather they just find new places to continue.
