Season 2 of Netflix’s Turkish drama Thank You, Next brings a lot of emotional ups and downs. The season mainly follows the troubled relationship between Ila and Jem. What starts out as a romantic story quickly turns into something much darker.
Jem seems perfect in the beginning, but over time, his true nature is revealed: controlling, manipulative, and secretive. As we dive deeper, we also see how the people around them, like Deafna, Omar, and Ila’s friends, get pulled into this mess.
At first glance, Jem looks like the ideal boyfriend—charming, successful, and supportive. Ila falls for him quickly. But slowly, we start seeing cracks. He starts deciding things for her, ignoring her boundaries, and making her feel guilty for wanting her own space. It’s not obvious at first, but the signs of manipulation are there from the start.
Deafna, one of Jem’s close friends, becomes a major problem in Ila and Jem’s relationship. After Deafna goes through a heartbreaking miscarriage, she leans heavily on Jem for emotional support. Ila can’t help but feel something deeper might be going on between them. The emotional bond shared by Jem with Deafna creates a lot of confusion and tension.
Ila’s friends raise red flags
Ila’s friends are quick to notice that Jem isn’t exactly who he pretends to be. He doesn't show any real interest in them and seems to control who Ila sees and where she goes. They warn her that something feels off. Their concern grows as Jem gets more controlling and isolating.
The biggest betrayal comes when Ila finds out that Jem has been spying on her. He’s been using a banned spy app to track her movements—not just hers, but others as well. This crosses a huge line. Ila is shocked, angry, and scared. She decides to take legal action against him for invading her privacy.
Jem’s ex-wife, Neil, enters the picture with major revelations. She tells Ila about a tragic incident from Jem’s past, his brother, Sem, died in a car crash, and Jem might have had something to do with it. According to her, Jem has always had a dark side hidden behind a calm face.
After learning about the spy app, Ila files a lawsuit against Jem. She’s not just fighting for herself, she’s making a statement against manipulation and control. But Jem doesn’t stay quiet. He publicly declares his love for Deafna, trying to make Ila look like the jealous ex. The courtroom becomes a battlefield of lies, emotions, and shocking confessions.
Things take a turn when Deafna, the one person who could truly help Ila’s case, refuses to testify against Jem. She stands by him, possibly out of love, or maybe fear. This move hurts Ila deeply and makes it harder for her to win the case.
The show gives us flashbacks to key moments, especially the night of Sem’s death. It turns out that Jem had a fight with Deafna, and Sem stepped in to protect her. Jem, full of rage, chased them. That chase led to a terrible car accident. It’s clear that Jem’s jealousy played a major role in the tragedy.
Jem’s real personality comes out

Jem finally shows his true face. Behind closed doors, he’s angry, controlling, and even violent. During a fight, he tries to stop Ila from leaving by force. It’s a heartbreaking moment, seeing the man she once loved turn into a stranger.
Ila attends a tense dinner with Jem and his mother. Deafna is also there, making things even more awkward. Jem snaps when his dog breaks a glass. He blames Ila for everything, and it becomes clear that he’s falling apart emotionally.
Ila digs deeper and learns that Jem even used a friend of hers, Neil, as a spy. She’s had enough. When she tries to walk away, he grabs her. But Ila doesn’t back down. She breaks down crying, realizing the man she loved is gone for good.
At Ila’s birthday party, her friends rally around her. Jem is nowhere to be seen. Omar reaches out, showing signs of emotional growth, and Ali introduces a new romantic interest. There’s a spark of hope in Ila’s life again.
In a dramatic twist, Jem goes on TV and says he’s quitting all his businesses. He declares that he’s going to start fresh with Deafna. This shocks Ila, but what’s worse is that Deafna shows up at her house right after.
Deafna shares her side of the story. She claims Jem tried to stop Sem from chasing them, and the crash was an accident. But the truth is messy, Oya, Jem’s mother, may have played a role in pushing Sem over the edge emotionally.
Just when it seems things can’t get worse, Ila learns that Jem and Deafna got married. This protects them legally and stops Deafna from being forced to testify in court. Tuba, another ally, gives up and leaves the case. Ila collapses under the emotional weight but refuses to quit.
Season 2 of Thank You, Next leaves us with a lot of questions. Ila is still in the middle of a tough legal battle, but she’s stronger than ever. Jem’s mask has slipped, and Deafna’s loyalty might cost her dearly.
The emotional ride, filled with secrets, betrayal, and heartbreak, sets up a dramatic road for Season 3. Ila might have been broken, but she's not defeated. She’s slowly rebuilding her life, with or without love.
