With its final season having released on June 27, 2025, Squid Game has achieved another new feat, earning record views of 60.1 million in just three days. This new Netflix record of Squid Game Season 3 also breaks the record of the Korean show’s previous seasons as season 2 had earned 68 million views in four days in December 2024, when it premiered.

Squid Game Season 3 had more than 368.4 million hours viewed and quickly landed at no. 9 in Netflix’s most popular non-English shows. As per Deadline, the final season also topped the weekly rankings in 93 countries.

The final season picked up from where it left off in season 2 of Squid Game as Gi-hun found himself back in the game after encountering his friend being killed in front of him. With more tragic and emotional deaths and also the anticipated confrontation between Gi-hun and the Front Man, Squid Game season 3 became one of the most anticipated series on Netflix.

Therefore, clocking 60.1 million views and breaking a record, which was previously held by Wednesday with 50.1 million views, is a big achievement for the non-English series. While Squid Game is a fan favorite show, another reason for their success could also be the promotional efforts Netflix put into the series, which has been going on for a couple of months, including the global activation tour, conducted in many countries, where thousands of fans participated and that concluded on June 28, 2025.

While talking to Deadline, Director of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, expressed how grateful he was for the global success of Squid Game and said:

"I am so grateful to the viewers who have given us such immense support and love all the way to the end, to the final season, that I don’t even know how to express my gratitude adequately. From Season 1 until now, over the past four years — and six years of my personal time poured into this project — I have experienced so much, traveled to so many places, met so many people, and received so much love, attention, and support."

He continued:

"These six years have been such a precious time in my life, and it makes me wonder if I’ll ever experience anything like this again. Season 3 has only been out for a few days, but for those who’ve already watched the previous seasons, I think you’ll enjoy it even more if you start again from Season 2."

The final season of Squid Game brought back Lee Jung-jae as Gi-hun and Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man and also included the surviving players from season 2, such as Kang Ae-shim, Im Si-wan, Wi Ha-joon, and Park Sung-hoon, among others.
