Apart from the main group in the popular series F.R.I.E.N.D.S, several other characters grew on the fans and became fan favorites. One of those characters was Maggie Wheeler’s Janice. Through her laugh and her famous ‘Oh My God’ cry, Janice went on to impress and entertain the viewers despite appearing in fewer than 20 episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

Sometimes, she didn’t even have to appear on screen to make things funnier. Her on-and-off relationship with Chandler was what introduced her to the group, who were all, at one point or another, annoyed or even helped by Janice in the series. In this list, we will look at the 7 best moments of Janice that made her one of the most memorable and integral parts of the fun of watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

7) Chandler’s mystery woman turns out to be Janice (Season 2, Episode 24)

One of the best “Oh My God” moments in Chandler and Janice’s on-and-off relationship comes in Episode 24 of F.R.I.E.N.D.S Season 2. Chandler had been talking to a woman on the internet and was smitten by her. Phoebe points out that it’s nice he likes someone without even seeing them — but also warns that it could be a man or a 90-year-old woman.

When they test the theory to check if he’s talking to a man, Chandler finds out he was actually chatting with a married woman who is unhappy in her relationship. When she asks him to meet, they agree on their usual café — and both are shocked to see each other. Without saying anything except “Oh My God,” Chandler kisses Janice, giving his friends a moment of complete surprise and shock.

6) She interrogates Chandler (Season 3, Episode 4)

In this episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Chandler struggles with his feelings for Janice and his fear of commitment. He seeks advice from his friends and goes to the grocery store, where he pretends he is just there to shop for a party — although he really just came to meet her.

Janice figures out that he’s not there to shop for a party and might actually be there to see her. She tells him that his behavior suggests he is either cheating on her — making him one of the biggest jerks — or pretending to cheat on her, which still makes him pathetic, and asks him to choose between the two guys, freaking Chandler out.

This is one of the best F.R.I.E.N.D.S episodes focusing on Chandler and Janice’s relationship and how, in the end, they confess their love for each other — while still keeping it funny.

5) Joey and Janice’s day of fun (Season 3, Episode 1)

Chandler and Janice’s relationship in the premiere episode of Season 3 of F.R.I.E.N.D.S puts Joey in an awkward position. For Chandler, it means having to bond with someone Joey doesn’t like.

Janice tells Joey that she’s heard he hates her and insists they spend a day together to bond — claiming that’s how long it takes to like her. She says:

“Because that's how long it takes to love me.”

Although it doesn’t change Joey’s opinion of her, he does tell Chandler that he might be able to tolerate Janice — and that the day they spent together didn’t cause any problems for either of them.

4) Janice’s advice to Chandler (Season 9, Episode 21)

After spending so much time in their volatile relationship throughout F.R.I.E.N.D.S, this episode highlights a new side of Janice and Chandler’s dynamic. Janice tries to advise Chandler as just a friend.

As Monica and Chandler are trying to have kids, they go through several tests to determine whether they can conceive. They run into Janice at the clinic after Chandler deposits his specimen. Although he pretends to be confident, he privately admits to Janice that he’s a little nervous about the results — something she quickly picks up on.

Janice doesn’t let him stay nervous. She reassures him that he and Monica are meant to be parents and that everything will work out. Despite this being one of their more heartfelt moments, the scene still ends with a touch of Janice’s trademark sarcasm, leaving it on a funnier and lighter note.

3) Janice’s tape wishing Chandler a Happy Birthday (Season 6, Episode 17)

This is one of the best Janice moments for fans of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. She doesn’t even appear on screen, yet still manages to steal the spotlight with the biggest laugh of the episode.

In the episode, Monica prepares a birthday surprise for Chandler, trying to make up for the Valentine’s Day she had to spend working. She makes his favorite food and plays a mixtape that he once made for her, featuring the song “My Funny Valentine.”

The surprise twist comes at the end of the tape when Janice’s voice suddenly plays, wishing Chandler a happy birthday. For fans, it’s a hilarious and unexpected callback. And for Monica, it’s likely a Janice moment she’ll never forget.

2) “Janice likes to have her fun” (Season 2, Episode 3)

Another of the best “Oh My God” moments comes in Episode 3 of F.R.I.E.N.D.S Season 2. After the death of Mr. Heckles, Monica and Rachel are left with ownership of his apartment. Chandler, meanwhile, is shaken by the idea that he might end up alone like Mr. Heckles.

Terrified of that future, he calls Janice to be with her again — not out of love, but out of fear. However, he’s in for a surprise when Janice shows up at the coffeehouse.

She is married and pregnant, which shocks everyone, including Chandler. When he asks why she didn’t mention it when he called, Janice replies with a classic line — because it was fun to see the look on his face. This unexpected twist, paired with her humor, makes it one of the funniest Janice moments in F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

1) Joey’s date brings her friend on Valentine's Day date (Season 1, Episode 14)

This might be one of the biggest “Oh My God” Janice moments — and a fan favorite from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. It’s mind-boggling how often Janice shows up in Chandler’s life at the most unexpected moments.

This particular moment takes place during the Valentine’s Day episode. Joey goes on a date with Lorraine — but she agrees only if he brings a friend along, as she’s bringing one of hers.

As expected, Joey takes Chandler. The real twist comes when Lorraine’s friend turns out to be Janice, who makes her entrance with the iconic “Oh My God.”

While Chandler is initially mad at finding himself in this situation again, the night eventually turns around. Joey hands Chandler his credit card, and they drink the most overpriced wine on the menu.

This is one of the best Janice episodes in F.R.I.E.N.D.S— we get all the classic bits: the laugh and the chaos. And when Chandler breaks up with her again, she doesn’t get heartbroken. Instead, she leaves on a light note, telling Chandler he might keep looking for her.

Unlike past breakups, Janice takes this one in good spirits — making us root for her even more.
