Connor Storrie has already created quite the buzz after his role as Ilya Rozanov in Heated Rivalry, but the actor also has a dream role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it's not of a hero. Storrie opened up to Variety about his role on the show and was asked if there's any superhero role he would like to play. Unlike his co-star Hudson Williams who expressed his desire for Nightwing in the DC, Storrie is after something more villainy.
Speaking to the outlet, the actor said,
“I want to be a supervillain, a new supervillain… I want to be bald. Remember that Christian Bale character [Gorr the God Butcher] in that ‘Thor’ movie where he was completely painted gray, and he had black teeth, and he was bald? Give me something weird like that.”
Storrie leads Heated Rivalry alongside Hudson Williams, who plays Shane Hollander. The duo play professional rivals and lovers on screen and off screen, their relationship is just as affectionate. Speaking about his friendship with Hudson off screen, Storrie added,
"It’s really enlightening about the culture of how men and man-on-man affection is received because you don’t see that a lot. It’s taboo for men to be friends and grab each other a certain way or hold hands...He’s my best buddy and I love him, and we have that level of comfort. It’s just interesting that that instantly gets turned into, “They’re more than friends.”
More details about Heated Rivalry
Jacob Tierney’s Heated Rivalry adapted Rachel Reid's beloved Game Changers for the screen as a passionate, steamy queer show that has everyone in a chokehold. Initially the show premiered on Crave before it was taken in by HBO Max. The show is a sports drama with a queer, romantic subplot and the audience reaction has been nothing short of extraordinary.
At the centre are Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, two superstar hockey players whose public rivalry borders on obsession. Shane is loud, impulsive, and unapologetically confident. Ilya is controlled, private, and painfully aware of the risks that come with visibility. Their on-ice clashes fuel headlines, but the real tension unfolds behind closed doors, where a secret relationship grows across hotel rooms, locker rooms, and long seasons on the road. The show uses hockey as a pressure cooker, constantly reminding you how little room there is for vulnerability in a sport that thrives on aggression and mythic masculinity.
Heated Rivalry's reception is already seen in the show's renewal for a second season, that will further adapt more of Reid's books which means Hollander and Rozanov have an even longer road to go. As of now, the show is available to stream on Crave and HBO Max.
