USA Network's Mr. Robot Season 2 premiered almost a decade ago in 2016, but its buzz remains to date. At the centre of the story is Elliot Alderson, an introvert cybersecurity specialist by profession and a hacktivist by passion. He joins fsociety, an activist organization that aims to destroy consumer debt records. In the Season 1 finale, we saw how the 5/9 hack was successful in wiping out all the consumer debt. But it left us wondering about what happened to Elliot for seventy-two hours after the hack was successful.
Mr. Robot Season 2 introduces a bunch of characters in both recurring and guest roles. This adds to the complexity of the story, once again reminding us that Mr. Robot isn't your regular psychological thriller.
Here's who plays who in Mr. Robot Season 2
Mr. Robot Season 2 cast and character guide
Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson
Rami Malek reprises his role as the lead character Elliot Alderson in Mr. Robot Season 2. Season 2 presents a different version of him. After he loses track of seventy-two hours after the major 5/9 hack, he changes his life drastically. All he wants is to take control of life and not let his alter ego, Mr. Robot, dictate to him or his notions. He lives a monotonous life with his mother, attends therapy sessions, journals, and in short keeps a track of every hour. He scribbles, "I am in control," in his diary, but in the end, his alter ego again messes with his life, challenging him to get back on track.
Christian Slater as Mr. Robot
Slater's role is no longer a secret in Mr. Robot Season 2, but his purpose grows more complex. He's not simply Elliot's alter ego. He is a protector, an instigator, and a gatekeeper of information that Elliot cannot access. Most notably, Mr. Robot withholds the truth about the missing three days and Tyrell Wellick's fate.
Their relationship becomes openly adversarial this season. Mr. Robot pushes for action. Elliot wants to block things out.
Carly Chaikin plays Darlene Alderson
Darlene, Elliot's sister, steps into the leadership role within fsociety in Mr. Robot Season 2. Season 2 strips away any illusion that victory feels good. The hack made things worse, not better, and Darlene knows it. Her anger comes from disappointment, not ego.
Darlene's arc this season is defined by pressure. She stops the fsociety members from celebrating too early and instructs them to get back to work. Her hasty decision to hack into bank systems and demand $5.9 million, only to humiliate E Corp and Scott Knoles, might land the organization in trouble.
Portia Doubleday as Angela Moss
Doubleday reprises her role as Angela Moss, Elliot's childhood buddy in Mr. Robot. However, her decision to join E Corp, the company responsible for her mother's death, seems confusing at first, but it slowly unfolds as the season nears its end. As a PR employee at E Corp, she finally understands how power operates. Angela believes proximity will allow her to change things from within. However, the belief turns dangerous. Her storyline will explore ambition, denial, moral compromise, vulnerability, and manipulation.
Martin Wallstrom as Tyrell Wellick
Tyrell Wellick, the former E Corp's VP of Technology, is a complex character. He is portrayed by Martin Wallstrom. Initially, he's shown as a ruthless executive, but slowly, he shows genuine concern for Elliot. After the 5/9 hack, he goes missing. Turns out, he's blamed for the hack and is among the most wanted criminals.
Michael Cristofer as Phillip Price
As E Corp's CEO, Price navigates political pressure, federal scrutinity and economic collapse. Season 2 frames him as powerful but constrained. Price role highlights how corporations survive disasters by shifting narratives rather than accepting blame.
Other pivotal roles:
- Stephanie Corneliussen as Joanna Wellick, Tyrell's wife
- Grace Gummer as Dominique DiPierro, FBI agent
- BD Wong as Whiterose
- Joey Bada$$ as Leon, Elliot's new friend
- Craig Robinson as Ray
