Storage Wars has seen Dan Dotson since the first season. He appears with his wife Laura and now that the show is back for its 16th installment, fans are wondering about the status of their relationship. The biggest question is whether or not Dan and Laura are still together.
The answer is yes. Dan Dotson and Laura Dotson are still happily married and appear on season 16 together. The two worked in the auction business before coming across each other and falling in love in 1996.
They had their wedding in 2000 and since then, have worked together on American Auctioneers, a company founded by Dan in 1983.
Talking about their relationship and filming, Dan and Laira revealed to TV Insider that Storage Wars has in fact brought them closer to each other as their work is now aligned. Dan said,
"Storage Wars saved our marriage... Before the show came along, we were each off driving 200 miles a day each. Since 2010 and the show, we’ve gotten to spend all our time together. To some people, that might sound like torture but it hasn’t been. It has been a blessing.
Continuing, he added,
We’re super happy to have that time together as friends and lovers. We have a lot of stuff happening. When we get to film, it’s another feather in our cap and what we enjoy doing. Of course, we enjoy the money. We need the money, but it’s nice to stay relevant and out there."
Storage Wars stars Dan and Laura on how the show has helped their marriage
Laura says that she and her husband are "best friends" and love the fact that they work together on Storage Wars. She says the series has brought a charm to auctions and influenced people to become "modern-day treasure hunters." There is a lot that goes behind the screens as well, Dan said, about their relationship.
He feels like the camera only captures them being a great couple, facilitating the auction. However, there are times when he slips up, and Laura comes in and helps him and drives him around.
On the other hand, there are boring bits of their lives as well during which they have to drive hundreds of miles all around and sometimes even eat inside their car which is not seen on Storage Wars, Laura said.
The new season of the show brings a new episode format as well. During this, each installment will be longer and Dan says, will give viewers some more time to experience the storage that was bid on.
They can see the items and whether they might have great resale value or will be a bust. Revealing about one of the units that they sell this season, the couple reveals that it was full of shoes. However, they were all left-footed.
Storage Wars season 16 drops new episodes weekly on A&E at 9 PM Eastern Time on Saturdays.
