Pumpkin, daughter of Mama June, and her husband Josh Efird, who have been married for the longest time and were high school sweethearts, have decided to call it quits on their marriage.
This move was initiated by Pumpkin, who feels like their relationship has gotten to a point where it is just stagnant with no communication or effort.
During her therapy sessions on Mama June season 7, Pumpkin revealed that Josh plans no dates together, and it just feels like they are roommates, existing together for the sake of their children. However, now she wants to get out of the marriage and explore the world outside.
She has talked about this decision to Josh and her family. However, her kids were the last ones to know about it.
In the most recent Mama June episode, Josh and Pumpkin decided to sit down with their daughter Ella, while getting ice cream, and break the news to her softly. She started off by saying that she and her father are not going to be together anymore.
However, there was no reaction on Ella's face which concerned her mom as she shot a look at Josh. She continued by saying they both still love each other and the separation is more of an "adult stuff," which she might understand more once she gets older. To this, Ella did not react. In her confessional, the kid said,
"Well, I don't know how to feel about it, but I don't like this."
Mama June, star Pumpkin and Josh share their feelings about divorcing with Ella
During his Mama June confession, Josh was in tears thinking about Ella and the other kids. Pumpkin then encouraged their child to ask them any questions that she might have regarding their parents' split.
She asked whether the family would continue to live in the same house together or not. Josh replied by saying that they would stay together for just a little while more, and then one of them would move out and figure out the living situation.
Ella then asked Pumpkin if she still loved her father. She replied,
"I will always love your daddy, I just don't love him like that."
Talking about the whole situation in her confessional, Pumpkin said,
"It's different as adults. You can process things a little bit easier than kids and looking at Ella, it's probably one of the hardest things that I ever had to do."
As for Josh, he revealed that his parents divorced when he was just 10 years old, and how tough it was to even understand what was going on. Thus, he wants to be there for his child and help her understand the whole situation a little bit better. He said,
"Telling Ella about the divorce is breaking my heart. I remember when my parents split it was super tough to navigate. We didn't understand as kids, you know, what was going on or why we weren't staying in the same house. So I'm sure for Ella that it's probably the same way. I just hope that Ella understands that I am here to help her navigate. I'm here to make it easier."
