Player 120’s death in Squid Game Season 3 might be one of those heartbreaking scenes from the Korean series that would be difficult for many fans to get over. In episode 2 of season 3, Park Sung-hoon’s Hyun-ju (Player 120) tragically died in the hands of Yim Siwan’s Myung-gi, just before exiting the brutal Hide and Seek game.
While her death left an impact on the viewers, it was not an easy task for the actor as well, as he shared in a new Netflix interview. While reacting to Player 120’s death in the game, the actor shared how difficult it was as he had to film a similar sequence for another Netflix hit show, Queen of Tears.
Sung-hoon shared:
“It was emotionally draining to do those scenes back to back.”
More on this in our story.
Park Sung-hoon talked about filming two death scenes in Squid Game Season 3 and Queen of Tears
In a new Netflix interview, the cast of Squid Game Season 3, namely Yim Si-wan, Park Sung-hoon, Kang Ae-shim, and Jo Yu-ri, reacted to Player 120’s tragic death in the Hide and Seek game. In the interview, just like the viewers, the actors were disheartened as well, seeing Hyun-ju being stabbed by Myung-gi (Player 333), and Sung-hoon also shared how he felt the weight of the scene as he had to film another death scene on the same day.
He stated:
"We shot that scene at the studio in Daejeon, and then I went straight to Jeongseon, Gangwon Province, to shoot Queen of Tears, which is also on Netflix."
He continued:
"And it just so happened we shot Yoon Eun-sung’s death scene on that very same day."
His co-stars agreed that he might have had a very difficult day as he filmed the end of two of his characters on the same day.
He further talked about why Player 120/Hyun-ju's death might have been so sad and impactful, and said:
"There are not many characters in the game that are righteous and selfless like her. So, it was sad that Hyun-ju had to say goodbye earlier than expected."
He further added:
"And it was right before we could’ve all moved on to the next round and survived. We were on the verge of it. That makes it sadder."
While discussing Hyun-ju’s death, the cast also shared how they found Yim Si-wan’s Myung-gi one of the bad characters in the show, for which Yim Si-wan jokingly apologized multiple times.
Aside from Hyun-ju, several other characters' deaths in Squid Game Season 3, such as Jun-hee, Geum-ja, and Gi-hun, were sad and heartbreaking and might be difficult to get over.
