In the last episodes, she decides not to accept Marcello's big offer to work at his office in Solitano and stays with Agence Grateau. However, the firm is facing major challenges, and now they have a new co-owner alongside Sylvie.

As explained earlier, Emily in Paris Season 5 begins with Emily managing the Agence Grateau office in Rome. She has been working really hard and attracting clients in the new city.

Thankfully, Marcello also supports her, and initially, it looks like she would be able to handle the office. However, this Rome chapter does not end in any way Emily expected. The agency struggles to gain a strong footing in the Italian luxury market.

Things worsen when Marcello admits that his family's brand, Muratori, partnered with Agence Grateau mainly to strengthen its position in a deal with JVMA and not just for trust between the partners. On top of that, major fashion houses pull out of potential collaborations, and long-time Paris clients begin to feel ignored.

And Sylvie realizes that she cannot handle this situation. The damage is done, and the Agence Grateau office in Rome is officially closed in Emily in Paris Season 5, with the entire team returning to Paris.

The Netflix show has always featured a love triangle, and this time it's not just Emily, Gabriel, and Marcello. The focus is on Emily's bestie, Mindy, who unexpectedly grows closer to Alfie, and the two share passionate moments.

However, Nico returns to Mindy's life, and he's more caring and understanding than before. Still, it looks like Mindy isn't convinced, but since she spends a lot of time with Nico, she cannot openly express her thoughts about Alfie.

In the last episode of Emily in Paris Season 5, Nico proposes to Mindy, and shockingly, she accepts the proposal. When she returns to Paris, Alfie questions her about the ring. Emily mentions that Nico is her fiancé now, and Alfie's face clearly shows that he's disappointed.

He congratulates Mindy for making a "big mistake," and then Emily is also surprised to see that Mindy is still confused between the two men. Mindy herself asks what she's doing and realizes she must make a final decision before Alfie decides to leave her life.

In the last episode of the series, Emily returns to her company after deciding not to accept Marcello's offer. When she arrives, Luc and Julien say that they almost sent her stuff to Rome.

At the same time, Sylvie hugs Emily, thanks her for staying, and expresses sympathy over the breakup. Just when Emily thinks she's back to her Paris life, Sylvie reveals that Agence Grateau has been struggling for a long time.

The agency finally gets a boost when Princess Jane follows the team back from Rome and invests heavily. However, this comes with strings attached, as she becomes co-head of Agence Grateau alongside Sylvie.

As for Luc, his French partner learns about his affair in Rome. On the other side, Julien remains mostly in the background this season, dealing quietly with Mindy temporarily moving out after her fallout with Emily.

As seen at the end of Emily in Paris Season 5, Emily is excited that Marcello might propose to her after spotting a ring inside his bag. The two even go for a special dinner and have outings, but Marcello doesn't say a word about their future.

When Emily realizes that the ring was meant for Mindy, she understands that Marcello wasn't going to propose. However, he still wants her in his life and offers her a major opportunity in Rome. Ultimately, Emily rejects the position, explaining that she belongs in Paris and that staying with Marcello in Rome would affect her independence.

Though they both love each other and envision a future together, the distance proves too much. As a result, the two break up. Emily returns to Paris and Agence Grateau, ready for another chapter in her life.
