Dr. Wolf began Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 4 with a new boss who also happens to be his ex-boyfriend. While his equation with Josh is complicated, the two are making it work. Josh even entrusted Wolf with a special case of an important donor named David. According to Josh, Bronx General is currently going through a money crisis and it is important that they keep David happy (to get his donation in return).

Wolf is asked to evaluate David's wife, Arianna, who is a dementia patient. A series of tests at the hospital leads Wolf to discover that Arianna is under a conservatorship, meaning she is in complete control of her family. While treating her, Arianna reveals that her family is holding her hostage and poisoning her regularly.

What did this discovery mean for Wolf? Was he able to help Arianna?

Here is the complete Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 4 recap.

Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 4 recap: Dr. Wolf saves the day (and Bronx General)

While Josh had entrusted Arianna to Wolf's care in Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 4, the case quickly spiraled out of control. Arianna escapes from Bronx General through the hospital vents, steals Wolf's motorcycle and goes to CNBC to announce that her family is holding her hostage. While this PR nightmare is not good for Josh and Bronx General, it leads Wolf to a breakthrough. He realises that Arianna does not have dementia but an improperly functioning amygdala. Her mind needs to be reckless and fearless to stave off her depression symptoms.

As it turns out, Arianna's family was not poisoning her. She was required to cook that story for the thrills. While Dr. Wolf understood that Arianna's family was concerned, the best treatment for her was her family's trust. They need to let her take some risks & chances and communicate with her like a true family. David was so pleased with Arianna's diagnosis and treatment that he promised to continue his donation to Bronx General, which was a blessing for Josh in Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 4.

Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 4 recap: Ericka spirals out of control

While Wolf takes a special case assigned by Josh, his interns are put through the wringer in Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 4. With Wolf gone, Charlie is made in charge, which means trouble. The most troubled intern in the latest episode remains Ericka, who is still not on speaking terms with her best friend. Moreover, she is regularly taking pills and spiraling out of control. When things get too far, she decides to help the homeless schizophrenic man (Sam) she met in the park. While Wolf and Josh had warned her not to use the hospital's resources on patients who had not requested help, she brought Sam in for an MRI scan anyway.

Chaos ensues when Sam is taken to the scan room and he gets out of control. While Ericka wanted to keep this low-profile, it ended up being a disaster and the hospital security had to intervene. Thanks to Dr. Thorne's intervention, he managed to rescue Sam and Ericka but things were not over. The intern got a harsh beating from Wolf and Josh, pushing her to the edge even more. To make things worse, Sam was nowhere to be found when she reached the park the next day, which forced her to dig pills out from the trash and she caved in.

Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 4 recap: Is Charlie Porter the real mastermind?

After giving us no Hudson Oaks flashback in the last episode, Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 4 featured a big reveal. But before that, Arianna's success marked the first major win for Josh and Wolf and they realized that they could work together. After the case was over, Wolf tells Josh that he will help him be successful as the new Chief but will not stop treating his patients his way. However, Josh is free to welcome a new neurologist to Bronx if he disagrees with Wolf's methods. While this was just an angsty banter, it directly led to the Hudson Oaks tease.

The flash forward begins with Wolf playing a game of cards with the other patients. He manages to sneak away a phone and call Josh, telling him that he has no autonomy in this place and that he is being kept against his will. Before he could have talked some more, the orderlies found him and snatched the phone away from him. However, we see Charlie overhearing Wolf's call in Josh's office as the new neurologist. This makes one wonder if he is the real mastermind who sent his boss to a mental facility (to get his job) in the first place.
