Food Network aired the latest Halloween Baking Championship Season 11 Episode 5 on October 13, 2025. The latest episode featured the remaining six bakers moving forward in the competition.
For the latest episode, they were instructed to create a spliced souls dessert. The bakers had to merge two monstrous figures into one with limbs and facial features.
Later, when the bakers prepared their designs, they presented them in front of the judges. One of them was Alan, who created Corn Flan Cake with Tres Leches. It had a combination of a man doing witchcraft. The man was a mixture of a scarecrow.
Sharing the story behind his design, Halloween Baking Championship baker Alan told the judges:
"So, what I made for you, it's a corn flan cake soaked in tres leches with corn. My inspiration, since I'm using corn, I'm trying to represent a cornfield. So it's a man that was doing some witchcraft in the cornfield, and he got mixed with a scarecrow."
Halloween Baking Championship Season 11 Episode 5: Alan presents his spliced souls dessert to the judges
The recently released Halloween Baking Championship Season 11 Episode 5 featured an exciting yet difficult challenge.
For that, bakers had to prepare a spliced-souls dessert featuring a combination of two different creatures. After the host announced the challenge and what bakers were supposed to do, they were also assigned one flavor. The second flavor was to be chosen by the bakers.
Later, the judges Carla Hall, Zac Young, and Stephanie Boswell shared their thoughts on the bakers' designs. While bakers started their preparations, the show host explored what they were making.
The show host asked Alan how he was going to present two beings fusing into one.
"So, I'm gonna represent it with a scarecrow. I got corn as my flavor. So I think that's a good match with a scarecrow. In Mexican culture, we use a lot of corn for a lot of things. So I feel comfortable with it," responded Alan.
The Halloween Baking Championship host also asked him about the second flavor. Alan replied that he would pair his corn with coconut. He added that the dessert was going to be a corn flan cake. Alan also told the show host that he was going to make a scarecrow decoration.
"So I'm gonna try to make a little cornfield with a scarecrow in the middle, and then I'm gonna use rice paper fried to make it look like the leaves. And my flan is gonna be on the middle," said Alan.
Some of the designs prepared by the bakers in the Halloween Baking Championship episode 5 were:
- Cory: Passion Fruit Coconut Mousse Cake,
- Jake: Frangipane Pear and Cardamom Tart,
- Melanie: Black Sesame Lemon Tart,
- Alan: Corn Flan Cake with Tres Leches, and more.
After the challenge ended, Alan went to show his baked dessert to the judges. He shared that his flavor was corn, and as a second flavor, he went with coconut. He
Looking at the design, one of the judges mentioned that the corn design was alright, but there was not much of the scarecrow part in the design. Judges also noted the face blending into two entities. However, the face sitting on the cake didn't look that good.
After tasting Alan's bake, judges noted that the flan cake flavor was fantastic. They also praised the combination of coconut in the dessert.
