Olivia Jaquith, a news anchor for WRGB (CBS6 Albany), was presenting during the morning show with her co-anchor Julia Dunn when she delivered rather amusing news on May 21, 2025. The New York-based host/reporter went into early labor after her water broke in the newsroom.
For those unaware, Jaquith has been a part of WRGB CBS6 since last April, having joined the Albany-based TV station as an anchor/reporter. According to her LinkedIn profile, Olivia transitioned into the role of morning anchor in January. Previously, she had worked at WENY-TV, WRIC ABC 8News, WTVJ (NBC6 South Florida), and more.
Olivia Jaquith is an alumnus of Niskayuna High School and Marist University, where she was also involved in sports. She played soccer for her high school team while also being a part of Niskayuna’s track and field program. According to Times Union, Jaquith continued sprinting as a collegiate athlete and represented the Marist Red Foxes.
During her college days, Olivia Jaquith interned at the Times Union and WRGB, where she is currently employed. While the Marist University alumnus made a career as a news anchor/reporter, she also holds a USSF National F License for soccer coaching. Olivia has been married to her husband, Tyn, since August 2023, per Times Union.
Besides her career as a news reporter, Jaquith has also participated in distance running and marathons. Earlier this year, she took part in the runDisney: Princess Half Marathon and shared pictures via her Instagram handle while announcing her pregnancy:
“Crossed one finish line, still 3 months to go on the other…Baby P coming soon 🍼👣❤️”
Olivia Jaquith continued to anchor the three-hour morning news broadcast despite going into early labor
The WRGB anchor got the good news a couple of days earlier than expected, as her water broke during the broadcast. Despite being in early labor, Olivia Jaquith pushed through the three-hour-long news program. Her co-anchor Julia Dunn went live on Facebook to announce the news as she said,
“Guys, this is not April Fool’s. Olivia’s water broke in the newsroom. Right? [asks Jaquith]”
Dunn then handed over her phone to the first-time mom, who said,
“Okay! I don’t know what’s going on. This is my first time. I’m new here. [giggles] So, yesterday, I was getting, like, period cramps, as I was getting on the desk. And I didn’t really think anything of it. But, then I went to the doctor yesterday, and they picked up a couple of contractions on the monitor and that persisted throughout the night, felt more like period cramps overnight.”
She continued,
“And then, this morning, I felt like I had to go to the bathroom, and so I get up…so, like, I go pee, and all of a sudden, stuff just started coming out.”
Olivia shared that she was unsure whether her water had broken earlier, but something similar happened in the newsroom moments before Dunn went live on Facebook. When asked by her co-anchor about continuing with her work, Jaquith said she thought she could get through a three-hour show.
The Facebook Live sessions that began before the news program’s broadcast went on for three hours. While the anchors continued throughout the morning show, they addressed Olivia Jaquith’s early labor on-air. Dunn said during the broadcast,
“We do have some breaking news this morning. Literally, Olivia’s water has broke, and she is anchoring the news now in active labor.”
Jaquith added,
“Early labor. Let’s not get carried away.”
During the weather report, the WRGB meteorologist also gave a light-hearted remark on Olivia Jaquith continuing to anchor the show:
“Not so great [on being asked how’s the weather]. And if I have to run off the set that means I’m hoisting Olivia over my shoulders and taking her to the transportation awaiting in the parking lot off to the hospital.”
The WRGB team also celebrated the news during the broadcast with a headline that read:
“Baby Watch – Here Comes Baby P, Good Luck Olivia. You Rock We Love You.”
Hours after her Facebook Live ended, Julia Dunn commented under her post, revealing that Olivia was still in labor at the hospital and was doing great. As of this writing, there haven’t been any updates posted by the news anchor on her Instagram.
