Sean 'Diddy' Combs' trial was brought to an end today, which culminated in the rapper getting exonerated on counts of racketeering and s*x trafficking. Combs still faces charges of transportation to engage in pr*stitution, which could pose yet more legal issues for him. Due to the serious nature of the offences, he could still face up to 20 years in prison, though the details of the sentence have not been disclosed yet.

The prosecution had reportedly portrayed Diddy as a criminal enterprise leader who exercised power, violence, and fear to control others. Sean Combs' "freak offs" became a topic of significant attention from the media. Meanwhile, Diddy’s defense team stated that all the relations were consensual ones and that the trial of prosecution was grossly exaggerated.

What's next for Diddy?

Sean Combs' trial had captured the public's attention for several weeks now, and the drawn-out affair saw testimonies from a total of 34 witnesses. Many experts have given their views about what might unfold in the next hours, including Georgetown Law Professor Erica Hashimoto, who has stated:

"I would be a little surprised if he didn’t, given the amount of time that (Combs) was locked up pre-trial. They could release him to be at home. They could put him on home monitoring, so he he's got a bracelet or something on that keeps track of where he is, just to make sure he shows back up at sentencing"

Rapper 50 Cent has also chimed in with comments of his own on social media. After Diddy was acquitted of the charges, the courtroom saw his family members erupt in loud raptures. Following the verdict, both the prosecution and defence have presented their case to the court and are currently in a tussle to get their way.

The prosecution has demanded a heavy sentence to be given to the rapper, while the defence has argued for bail to be granted to the rapper in the wake of the allegations being unproven. The date for Sean Combs' sentencing has not been set yet. At the time of writing, Judge Arun Subramanian is still examining the letters presented by them, and a verdict is awaited later today.
