Cassie Ventura is reportedly content and has found closure as alleged ex-partner Diddy's trial comes to an end. A source recently told Us Weekly:
“Cassie feels relieved now that she is removed from the trial. She is glowing and finally feels free. This marks the final chapter in her long and painful history with Diddy, and she is finally at peace.”
““She feels a deep sense of closure and freedom” now that “a weight has been lifted” off her shoulders,” as reported by the outlet.
Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, took to the stands for a four-day-long testimony against Sean "Diddy" Combs, 55, while in her third trimester of pregnancy. She accused the mogul of molesting her, blackmailing her, and physically abusing her, among other things. The pair had dated for 11 years, from 2007 to 2018.
Cassie Ventura's lawyer applauds her bravery as Diddy's trial comes to an end
Just moments ago, Diddy was found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution. However, he has been acquitted on the grave charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, which could have sentenced him to life in prison.
Cassie Ventura's lawyer, Douglas H. Wigdor, has since issued a statement applauding his client for her bravery:
“This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023,” he said. “Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution. By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice."
He added:
"We must repeat – with no reservation – that we believe and support our client who showed exemplary courage throughout this trial. She displayed unquestionable strength and brought attention to the realities of powerful men in our orbit and the misconduct that has persisted for decades without repercussion. This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors.”
Cassie Ventura was the first to accuse Combs of abuse and rape back in November 2023 via a lawsuit, which was swiftly settled in the next 24 hours. She was a key witness in his current federal trial. The jury was also presented with the infamous surveillance footage from a hotel in Los Angeles, where Diddy could be seen dragging her across the floor and beating her.
Diddy's defense attorney, Marc Agnifilio, acknowledged Cassie Ventura's testimony in his closing argument, noting that they don't refute that Diddy assaulted her:
“We own the domestic violence,” Agnifilo said, per NBC News. “I hope you guys know that.” But, he “did not do the things he is charged with, racketeering or sex trafficking,” the attorney added. “He is going to fight to the death to defend himself against what he didn’t do.” Instead, he dubbed their relationship “a great modern love story” between two “swingers.”
As per CNN, Cassie Ventura's lawyer, Wigdor, has since responded to Agnifilio's claims in a statement:
“Calling those sorts of behaviors as a modern-day relationship, you know, saying that she enjoyed sex, you know, saying she was a gangster, things like that — I don’t think that even with the jury verdict that they would have given that any credit,” he said, adding he also doesn’t think “anyone who actually listened to the testimony and watched the testimony would either.”
As for Cassie Ventura, who now shares three kids with husband Alex Fine, she is keen on staying “out of the spotlight” so she can focus on her family:
“The girls love having a baby brother in the house and are obsessed with him. She had a hard labor but feels her family is complete now,” the source told Us Weekly. “Cassie is enjoying living on the East Coast for now and raising her kids near her family.”
The insider says she is past the Hollywood life, and is now prioritizing a “private life” with her brood:
“She’s now fully focused on her future and the life she’s built outside of the public chaos,” the source said, adding, “Alex does everything he can to make sure Cassie is in a good headspace and they are a great team. She is so happy to have him.”
As of this writing, Diddy's sentencing remains unclear, according to CNN, though he could be looking at up to two decades behind bars. The defense has reportedly petitioned the court to release him while he awaits his final sentence, though the judge said he'll take some time to make this decision.
