Japanese-Australian singer Joji has made his comeback to music with his new single titled Pixelated Kisses, according to a report in International Business Times. The 33-year-old performer wrote and produced the song himself. The single marks Joji’s musical release after three years, as he released his last studio album, Smithereens, in November 2022.

The singer, whose real name is George Kusunoki Miller, made his debut on November 3, 2017, with the release of his first EP, In Tongues, through Empire Distribution.
He took a hiatus from music primarily due to health reasons after completing his Pandemonium World Tour in 2023. According to the reports, Joji suffered from a neurological disorder, which made him susceptible to seizures triggered by stress, which in turn impacted his mental health.
He is known for his soulful blend of R&B, lo-fi, and electronic music. Here is everything you need to know as Joji returns with new music.
Joji returns with new single “Pixelated Kisses”
Joji announced the news of the release of his new single, Pixelated Kisses, on his Instagram on October 14, 2025. It comes after his fans speculated that the singer would be making his comeback due to leaked information on social media.
He wrote on his Instagram account:
“PIXELATED KISSES out now”
The song explores the themes of emotional disconnection between lovers in a hyper-connected yet distant world. Since his debut in 2017, Joji has released four studio albums, including Ballads 1 in 2018, Nectar in 2020, and Smithereens in 2022.
In September 2023, he embarked on the Pandemonium World Tour, starting at the Toyota Center in Houston. The tour was originally scheduled to run through December 3, 2023, ending in Hong Kong. However, he announced his hiatus after performing in Manila in November 2023.
Taking to his Instagram to share the news with his fans and followers, he wrote:
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it to my upcoming shows in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Hong Kong due to health reasons. I will be back I promise!”
During that time, Clockenflap also took to their Instagram account to send their love and prayers to the singer. They wrote:
“We are absolutely gutted with this news. We are sending our love to Joji for a swift recovery, and to all of you who we know are as disappointed with this as we are. We are working our very hardest to lock in a replacement to share with you as soon as possible. The show goes on!”
The Die for You singer was born in Osaka, Japan, to a Japanese mother and an Australian father, a report in Highsnobiety stated. While he was growing up in Japan, he was influenced by Lil Wayne’s A Milli from 2008 and started to use GarageBand to make music.
Later, he moved to the U.S. to pursue his further studies in Brooklyn, New York. Initially, he gained recognition through his vlogging career on YouTube, where he became famous with comedic characters like Filthy Frank and Pink Guy.
He gradually transitioned into the music industry. With the release of his EP In Tongues, he reportedly peaked at number 58 on the Billboard 200.
