The record follows 2021's Solar Power. Her Sydney appearance is the latest in a string of surprise drop-ins, including a flash mob-style meet-up in New York's Washington Square Park last month that was eventually shut down by police due to the sheer size of the crowd.

At the Sydney event, the Royals singer arrived quietly and without any public announcement. A few fans initially spotted her and exchanged handshakes, before the whole crowd caught on. Witnesses said she moved through the room, greeting fans and dancing with them.

In a statement to media outlets, EMI Australia confirmed the appearance was entirely the pop singer's decision and had not been planned by her label.

Lorde is heading back on tour this fall with the Ultrasound Tour

This is going to be her first major run since the Solar Power era. The trek will kick off in the U.S. before heading to Europe. The tour includes a mix of large arena stops and intimate theaters.

She will be joined by a rotating cast of supporting acts, including Blood Orange, Japanese House, Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Nilüfer Yanya, and Oklou, during the trek.
