Music legend Willie Nelson is 92 years old, but is still making music and memories along the way. Right now, Nelson is preparing for upcoming stage appearances alongside his old friend and fellow music icon, Bob Dylan.

They will be taking part in the Outlaw Music Festival as it resumes for the second leg of its 10th year slate on June 20 in Clarkston, Michigan.

When speaking with a representative from The Associated Press in a phone interview from Oahu, Hawaii, Willie Nelson shared that he’s happy to let his friend have primary billing on the show.

“Bob’s a good friend. And I’ll be glad to let him headline.”

Willie Nelson - upcoming commitments

When asked if he’d ever be open to giving his life stories to the type of biopic treatment dear friend Bob Dylan did last year with A Complete Unknown, Nelson shared:

“I’ve heard some talk about it. But I’m not through with it yet.”

The upcoming tour is just one of the commitments in a truly busy year for Nelson. For starters, Nelson released his 77th studio album this spring, on top of his efforts to grow his already impressive line of legal cannabis products. The Outlaw Music Festival will also come to an end in time for Nelson to participate in Farm Aid’s 40th anniversary in September.

Nelson co-founded the annual festival with fellow music legends Neil Young and John Mellencamp. Its aim is to support local family farmers in the United States. Nelson and his musical family perform there annually in an effort to raise funds for those in need.

It was originally inspired by one-off charity concerts like “Live Aid,” but Nelson and his friends believed it could be something even greater. Thanks to their dedication, it is now an annual institution, rotating to a different farm-adjacent city on a yearly basis.

When asked about his all-time favorite iteration of the event, Willie was torn, as every event holds a special place in his heart.

“They’ve all been good, for different reasons. The first one was great, the last one was great.”

This year, Farm Aid’s milestone 40th anniversary celebration will take place in Minneapolis.
