Sinners was released on April 18, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures. It met with positive critical response and grossed $364 million at the box office. Ryan Coogler wrote and directed the film, which takes place in 1932. Here is the official synopsis, as per Letterboxd:

Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

Recently, a comment from Coogler hinted at a possible crossover between the action-horror film and Black Panther 3. Let’s find out more about this.

Is Sinners getting a crossover with Black Panther 3?

Ryan Coogler has been basking in the success of his recent film Sinners. Ahead of Black Panther 3, the director spoke to ComicBook.com, where he was asked if any characters from his horror film would feature in the next Black Panther installment. He said:

“I can neither confirm nor deny … I’m going to plead the fifth."

Coogler hasn’t given a concrete answer, so viewers will have to wait for further details to be revealed. The question seemed to hint at Michael B. Jordan, who stars in Sinners and portrayed the antagonist in the first Black Panther. His character, Killmonger, dies toward the end of that film. It would be interesting to see if the actor will reprise his role in the third installment.

Since the film's release, there has reportedly been a buzz around its sequel. Earlier this month, Coogler spoke to Ebony Magazine and revealed that he had been making franchise films for a while.

“I’ve been in a space of making franchise films for a bit, so I wanted to get away from that. I was looking forward to working on a film that felt original and personal to me and had an appetite for delivering something to audiences that was original and unique.”

He said that he wanted the film to feel like a full-course meal, hence ending the speculation around its sequel.

“I wanted the movie to feel like a full meal: your appetizers, starters, entrees and desserts, I wanted all of it there. I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing. That was how I was asked all about it. That was always my intention.”
