Veteran film director Rob Reiner, along with his wife Michele Singer, was found dead at his Brentwood residence in Los Angeles, California, on December 14, 2025. The renowned filmmaker, who was 78 at the time of his death, was particularly known for his light-hearted dramas and romantic comedies.

Rob Reiner, besides being a well-established filmmaker, was also an actor, author, and screenwriter who starred in several TV shows and films. According to CNN, the person "responsible" behind Reiner and his wife Michele's death is their 32-year-old son Nick Reiner, a screenwriter, who has a history of drug abuse.

As reported by CNN, it was one of Rob's daughters, Romy Reiner, who found the filmmaker and his wife's dead bodies at their Los Angeles home on December 14.

Rob Reiner, who had collaborated with multiple A-list actors and actresses in Hollywood, including Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, Meg Ryan, Demi Moore, Bill Crystal, Kevin Bacon, and many others, had quite a successful film career in Hollywood with several critically acclaimed films such as Stand By Me, A Few Good Men, and When Harry Met Sally. Not to mention, he also acted in Martin Scorsese's 2014 Oscar-nominated thriller-drama film, The Wolf of Wall Street.

Following the unfortunate death of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, prominent author Stephen King, a long-time friend of theirs, took to X (formerly Twitter) to honor them both. King paid tribute to Rob and Michele on X and wrote:

"I’m horrified and saddened by the death of Rob Reiner and Michele. Wonderful friend, political ally, and brilliant filmmaker (including 2 of mine). Rest in peace, Rob. You always stood by me."

Rob Reiner and Stephen King collaborated on two films, Misery and Stand by Me. The films were adapted from two of King's stories.
