Cristiano Ronaldo's time in Saudi Arabia may have just reached its final "chapter."

The 40-year-old Portuguese striker seemingly hinted at his departure from Al Nassr in a cryptic social media post after the team's last Saudi Pro League game of the season.

Ronaldo scored in the match. Afterwards, he shared a photo of himself in the club's jersey from his official X account (formerly Twitter) with a caption that read,

"This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all."

Under the comments of the X post, one netizen declared:

"You are the worst player to ever be considered the GOAT, bottled the Saudi League every season with 0 trophies at Al Nassr, getting owned by Al Ittihad. Messi would have won numerous trophies in the Saudi Arabia farmers league. How can anyone consider this statpadder the GOAT"

Cristiano Ronaldo's cryptic post has stirred waves across social media platforms. Many fans are now speculating on what is next for arguably one of football's most celebrated players.

On the other hand, some criticized his status as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time).

Internet reactions to Cristiano Ronaldo's "This chapter is over" post

Netizens did not waste time jumping into the comment section of Cristiano Ronaldo's X post that hinted at his Al Nassr exit. Here are some of the comments:

"How can the story continue while you watch your team’s needs go unmet on a technical level? If you are not the primary driving force behind improving your team and achieving titles with them, then what does it truly mean to be the team’s leader?," expressed an X user.
"The story is: 3 trophyless seasons. Next chapter? Another trophyless," noted another.
"99 goals and a Golden Boot show his hunger at 40. As he said "The story? Still being written." We say, Keep pushing, CR7," penned a third.

Others also chimed in:

"You did not just play football. You redefined it. You didn't chase greatness. You dragged it forward with every sprint, header, and goal. You became the standard others now measure against. This chapter may be closed, but legends don't write endings, they echo through eras. From Madeira streets to Old Trafford nights, from Bernabéu roars to Al-Nassr thunder, Your journey was not just success, it was resilience, discipline, and warrior spirit carved into time. Some athletes win games. Few change the game. Rarest of all, write the game’s mythology. The story is not over because your impact lives in every kid tying boots with a dream. We're not just grateful, we are witnesses to an era that won't come again," penned a fan.
"You were not the problem but Al Nasser were, go well CR7 wherever you go," opined another.

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January 2023 following his exit from Manchester United. Over the course of his tenure, he scored 99 goals in 105 matches, including 25 this season, which earned him the Golden Boot.
