Lorde has received backlash after she referenced Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s infamous s*x tape in Current Affairs.

The Last Show Girl actress has reportedly also spoken out after the Royals singer dropped her recent album, Virg*n. According to Daily Mail, a source close to Anderson told the outlet,

“[The video] changed her life forever and a lot of bad came from it that she doesn't like remembering or thinking about.”

The insider claimed that Pamela Anderson “doesn’t know Lorde,” and added,

“[She] is not going to focus on Lorde's thoughts and her lyrics, it is nothing that Pam wants to be a part of. She's not going to endorse it.”

For those unaware, Lorde previously talked about the s*x tape during her May 2025 Rolling Stone cover story interview, calling it "beautiful." She recounted looking up for the video and watching it after her second psychedelic therapy session. Lorde said,

“I found it to be so beautiful. And maybe it’s f*cked up that I watched it, but I saw two people that were so in love with each other, and there was this purity. They were jumping off this big boat.… They were like children. They were so free. And I just was like, ‘Whoa. Being this free comes with danger.’”

More than a month later, Lorde dropped Current Affairs as one of the tracks on her fourth studio album, Virg*n. She again referenced Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s video in the song,

“All alone in my room / Watching the tape of their honeymoon / On the boat, it was pure and true / Then the film came out”

Pamela Anderson is reportedly upset but not mad at Lorde, according to Daily Mail

As mentioned, the Scary Movie 3 star will not endorse Current Affairs’ lyrics. Anderson will be seen in the Liam Neeson-starrer The Naked Gun, which is set to release in August. The source told Daily Mail that the actress is upset because she knows she will be asked about Lorde’s song during the upcoming movie’s press tour. The insider added,

“She's not mad at Lorde, because she doesn't know who she is, but she would rather not have this out there. It is just a headache to deal with, when she just wants to live her life. It is painful that she always has to relive that moment in her life.”

The infamous ‘90s scandal was also a subject of Pam & Tommy, starring Lily James and Sebastian Stan in the titular roles. The Hulu series was based on a 2014 Rolling Stone article (by Amanda Chicago Lewis) about the theft of the then-couple’s private tapes.

Earlier this year, during a USA Today interview, Pamela Anderson revealed that she hasn’t watched the show and has nothing to do with it. She said,

“I was pretty shocked that people could do something about you without your knowledge or blessing. I found out about that when I was doing the documentary and I was like, ‘What is happening? Why would they go to a place that was so painful for me, that I’ve taken all this time to get over?”

Pamela Anderson added,

“I don’t even think I did get over it; that really left its mark. The last few decades were very dark for me. I wrote a lot of poetry and did a lot of writing, but I wasn’t happy. I was confused and trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing. Somehow it all worked out, but that’s not something I like to relive. It happened and I’m stronger for it now, I guess.”

According to Daily Mail, the source told the outlet that Pamela Anderson “hates when the s*x tape creeps back into pop culture.” The Insider asserted that the actress “has been on a recent high in her career.”

Furthermore, she has “steered clear from her past” and would rather have people give attention to her “current accomplishments.” The source also added that Anderson would rather want the fans not to remember her “Baywatch and her s*x tape past.”
