Timothée Chalamet opened up about interviewing Kendrick Lamar ahead of his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance last February.

Speaking on Carmelo Anthony's 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, the Dune star reflected on the experience chatting with the 22-time GRAMMY winner, praising Lamar for his poise throughout the conversation.

"I was so impressed that this man was so calm sitting next to me and I was like, 'Wow he's engaged in a gladiator sport right now.'"

Timothée Chalamet continued:

"As I was sitting next to him I was like, 'I could not do that.' I couldn't believe that you could be that big at war with somebody that big and go about your life."

The Marty Supreme star went on, discussing how the interview initially took place in a studio before the rap icon himself invited him to his car.

"I did the interview with Kendrick in a studio for a day. We did 30 minutes, and it was very... There was no time really to do it and it was very stiff. And I went home a little sad. 'Cause like, man, I felt like we really could've got a good rhythm. And maybe he's just in Super Bowl mode. And then he called and he's like, 'Alright, let's just... me and you in a car, and let's just roll.'"

At this point, Timothée Chalamet told the host:

"My white a*s was like, 'Wow, he's in the middle of this beef' and like 'can you imagine if this is how I go out?'... That would be a crazy end to the Wikipedia."

Timothée Chalamet lauds Kendrick Lamar ahead of his Super Bowl Halftime performance: "You just keep climbing"

Chalamet and Lamar's interview was broadcast on the NFL Network’s Good Morning Football on Feb. 7, days ahead of the rapper's headlining act. In their conversation, the luther hitmaker opened up on what was in store for his forthcoming Super Bowl Halftime performance.

"I think I've always been very open about storytelling through all my catalog and my history of music. And I've always had a passion about bringing that on whatever stage I'm on. You know, whether it's a world tour or whether it's 500 people, I've always had a form of that. So, I like to always carry on that sense of, you know, make people listen, but also seeing them think a little."

Timothée Chalamet, a hip-hop enthusiast, also commended Kendrick Lamar as the latter awaited his much-anticipated act.

"Just being a fan of your music forever and knowing like, look where you're at now. It's just crazy, Super Bowl Halftime show. You just keep climbing, bro. It's like amazing."
