Haylie Duff fondly recalls making movies with sister Hilary Duff following feud rumors

Actresses Hilary Duff and her sister, Haylie Duff, were known for their dynamic in the world of pop culture and entertainment back in the 2000s. The sisters not only shared screen space but were often seen hanging out and spending quality time with each other. However, a lot has changed since the teenage sensations became adults and have family and responsibilities of their own.

During her red carpet appearance for the premiere of her soon-to-be-released film, Pretty Hurts, on May 21, Haylie Duff spoke to Entertainment Tonight. The actress reminisced about shooting for Material Girls, a film in which Haylie and Hilary played sisters on screen.

Haylie expressed surprise when she realized that the film would turn 20 next year. Upon learning that Material Girls will cross its 20th anniversary milestone soon, Haylie said,

“Oh no way!”

In a hilarious intervention, Haylie’s daughter, who was right by her side, said to her mother,

“You’re getting old.”

While Haylie’s daughter hadn’t seen Material Girls yet, the actress and filmmaker revealed that she is excited for her daughter to discover films she has acted in. Haylie said,

“Yeah one day maybe she'll sit and watch Material Girls and get a kick out of that.”

During the conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Hailey Duff also confirmed that she gave the singing voice for the character Isabelle in her younger sister, Hilary’s film, The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Incidentally, Isabelle is the doppelgänger of Lizzie Mcguire, a character which was played by Hilary.

Beyond these projects, Hilary and Haylie Duff both lent their voices to 2004's In Search of Santa. Haylie has also appeared in a few episodes of the series Lizzie McGuire, in which Hilary played the lead titular role.

Haylie and Hilary Duff’s alleged feud, explored

Haylie’s conversation with Entertainment Tonight did veer towards "a TikTok video." However, Haylie was quick to respond that she did not know anything about TikTok.

For the unversed, Distractify reported that rumors of a feud between the sisters have been circulating on social media. A series of videos posted by TikTok influencer @Jordycrayy in early 2022 claimed that there might be a feud between the Duff sisters.

According to the report by Distractify, to iterate his allegations, the TikTok influencer argued that the two sisters rarely interacted with each other on social media since early 2021. @Jordycrayy noted that before 2021, the two sisters actively responded to each other’s posts.

Columnist Perez Hilton also noted the TikTok influencer's observation, saying,

“Hilary Duff has not liked any of Haylie Duff’s posts since January 2021, I think it was like January 26…And it is important to note that before that, Hilary Duff used to like all of Haylie’s stuff, all the time, and she was with her pretty regularly.”

@Jordycrayy, as per Perez Hilton’s blog, further pointed out the apparent distance between the families of the two sisters on social media, and said,

“Hilary’s husband Matthew, who does not follow Haylie. But, Haylie follows him, which I thought was also weird. Because you’re sister-in-law, brother-in-law, you know. That would be like one thing if no one uses social media, but they’re all pretty active, so I was like, hmm.”

The report by Distractify further pointed out instances where the two sisters have maintained distance online, including when Hilary Duff did not publicly wish her sister on social media on the occasion of her 37th birthday.

TheThings also reported on the TikTok influencer’s theory that the two sisters may have grown apart due to political differences. As per the digital publication, @Jordycrayy said,

“This is all alleged, I can’t back this up by any claims or anything like that. But, Haylie Duff follows Candace Owens. Hilary Duff is very liberal. Could it have something to do with politics? I don’t know. Difference of opinion? I don’t know. All I know is that they used to be very close, and now we no longer see them in pictures anymore”

While media speculation remains rampant, it is important to point out that neither of the Duff sisters has publicly spoken out about a feud between them.
