Spider-Man: Brand New Day supposedly begins production in a month. Scottish newspaper The Herald exclusively published a report stating that the fourth Spider-Man movie will begin filming on August 1, 2025. The Scottish news outlet also first broke that the film would begin filming in Glasgow last month.
However, it should be noted that The Herald reported these dates by using filming notification engagement letters as the source. Therefore, despite the lack of confirmation from Sony, which owns the film rights to the Wall-Crawler, we can expect Spider-Man: Brand New Day to begin filming next month across the city of Glasgow.
Explaining the latest Spider-Man: Brand New Day update
The production date of the movie is a topic of discussion amongst the fans, apart from the possibilities of Hulk's involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Now, it looks like we know that the much-awaited movie goes into production next month. However, it is unclear whether Star Tom Holland will begin filming his scenes next month or later, as he is still working on Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.
The Herald's report revealed that access to Glasgow will be restricted because, from August 1, 2025, Spider-Man: Brand New Day begins filming. The report stated:
"Between August 1 and August 9, vehicle movements will be prohibited on parts of Bothwell Street, Wellington Street, West Campbell Street, Blythswood Street, Douglas Street and Pitt Street for filming, with Cadzow Street and Oak Street also closing fully on August 9. Meanwhile, vehicle movements will also be prohibited on parts of Hope Street, Queen Street, Renfield Street, South Frederick Street, St Vincent Street, Ingram Street and West Nile Street, as well as Drury Street for its full length, for filming on August 9 and 10 and August 11 to August 13."
The report continued:
"Production will then move to the Merchant City, with vehicle movements prohibited on Wilson Street, Brunswick Street, Hutchison Street and Candleriggs between August 13 and 16, with scenes also being shot on Glassford Street and Virginia Street on August 14 and 15.
What do we know about Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
As of now, we don't know much about the movie except for the fact that Jon Bernthal will be a part of the movie as Frank Castle/The Punisher. This move signifies that Marvel is filling the decade-long gap between the original Netflix Marvel Universe and the wider MCU movies.
Spider-Man 4's title, 'Brand New Day,' was revealed during Sony's 2025 CinemaCon presentation. Along with the title, it was revealed that Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing the project. He said this at the Cinema Con stage:
“I’m spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world. We’re all, just daily, nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven’t really seen before. I really wish I could introduce you to our entire team who are working their bloods off for this. They are incredible, and you will see their amazing work when ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ hits your theaters.”
Initially, the movie was expected to be a grand-scale multiversal adventure as it was releasing after Avengers: Doomsday. However, Doomsday was delayed to December 2026, giving Brand New Day a chance to be a relatively grounded movie.
Brand New Day swings into cinema halls across the world on July 31, 2026.
