Bobby Jenks, an All-Star pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, has passed away at age 44. The team revealed that Jenks died in Portugal on July 4, 2025. The star player who had played for the Chicago White Sox during their win at the 2005 World Series battled with stomach cancer.
Jerry Reinsdorf, Chairman of the Chicago White Sox, announced Jenks’ passing and highlighted how invaluable he was to the team, stating that the former player would be missed and never forgotten.
"We have lost an iconic member of the White Sox family today. None of us will ever forget that ninth inning of Game 4 in Houston, all that Bobby did for the 2005 World Series champions and for the entire Sox organization during his time in Chicago.”
The Chairman stated that the former player would be missed and never forgotten.
"He and his family knew cancer would be his toughest battle, and he will be missed as a husband, father, friend and teammate. He will forever hold a special place in all our hearts."

The California-born baseball pitcher spent six seasons with the Chicago White Sox from 2005 to 2010 and played for the Boston Red Sox from 2005 to 2011. Baseball Almanac reports that Jenks’ fastest pitch was recorded at 102 miles per hour at Safeco Field on August 27, 2005.
Bobby Jenks, who holds the title as the White Sox pitcher with the second-highest saves of all time, stated in his last interview:
"You play for the love of the game, the joy of it," Jenks said in his last interview with SoxTV last year. "It's what I love to do. I (was) playing to be a world champion, and that's what I wanted to do from the time I picked up a baseball."
Bobby Jenks is survived by his wife Eleni Tzitzivacos, and six children, Zeno, Katehis, Cuma, Nolan, Rylan, and Jackson.
