What happened on Days of our Lives

Doug was working at the pub when Ari walked in. After Doug placed Ari’s order with the kitchen, Ari asked Doug if he had been seeing someone else. Doug said no. “It’s no big deal if you are. It’s just, I’d kind of like to know,” Ari said. “I’m sure. Trust me,” Doug said. Ari smiled, and she asked Doug to go to his room after his shift.
“I thought we agreed that wasn’t the best idea given the fact that I work here,” Doug said. Ari told Doug that she knew how to sneak upstairs. After a moment, Doug gave Ari the key to his room. Doug noticed a man walking out, and he went over to check on the bill. The man had written on the bill, “You have another payment due.” Doug went over to Ari, and he asked her to return his key and leave. “This is so rude,” Ari muttered as Doug ushered her toward the door. “I’ll take care of the bill. Just go,” Doug said. Ari stomped out.
In Sophia’s bedroom, Tate laughed as he held his hand against Sophia’s belly. “Sometimes I think that he or she is trying to kick their way out,” Sophia said. “I’m really going to miss feeling those kicks. I mean, after,” Tate said. Sophia laughed and said she was ready to be done so that they could move on with their lives. Sophia told Tate that she had met with a lawyer, and she texted him her information.
Tate admitted he had thought about what their baby would be like in a year or two. Sophia said she did not want to picture the baby growing up. “I probably should not do that either. I’m sorry if that was insensitive,” Tate said. Sophia stressed that she was fine. As Tate showed Sophia photos from graduation, Amy walked in and invited Sophia to join them for dinner and a movie. Sophia said she did not want to leave the house. As Amy hesitantly walked out, she opened the door wider.
“I got the impression that your mom wants me to leave,” Tate said. “Yeah, I think she’s worried that we’re going to make another baby,” Sophia said with a chuckle. Tate asked Sophia if her mom thought they were a couple. With a shrug, Sophia noted that her dating life was none of her mother’s business. “And not that it’s any of my business, but what about Holly?” Sophia asked. Tate admitted he had not heard from Holly since graduation. Sophia said she had seen Holly helping Doug study for his GED exam.
“I don’t know what she sees in that buy, but it seems like they’re getting pretty close,” Sophia said. Tate changed the conversation back to graduation, and he showed her the pictures that Aaron had sent him. “I wish I could have stayed,” Sophia said. As Tate looked for photos of the after party, Amy poked her head in the room. “You scared me!” Sophia said. Sophia reiterated that she did not want to go out. Sophia ushered her mother out of her room. Tate said he needed to head out too. Sophia assured him that she was not tired, but Tate explained that he wanted to spend time with his sister.
After Tate left, Sophia started to have contractions. “Oh my god. I think my water broke,” Sophia said. Sophia was eager to get to the hospital, but the contractions kept her from making a call for help.
In the penthouse, Brady played chess with Rachel. Marlena called Brady and told him about Johnny. Brady told Rachel about Johnny’s arrest. “I thought they might arrest him for shooting Uncle EJ,” Rachel said. Brady noted that the police might want to ask Rachel some questions about what she had witnessed the night of the shooting. “But I thought I wasn’t supposed to say anything about seeing Johnny that night,” Rachel said. Brady assured Rachel that they did not need to worry about Rachel Blake. Kristen arrived, and she informed Rachel that her grandmother was safe and settled in at Aremid.
“I rushed over here because I missed you,” Kristen said. Rachel asked when they could visit her grandmother. Kristen said soon. Kristen delivered a note from Rachel Blake to Rachel, and she encouraged Rachel to go to her room and write a response. Once Rachel was in her bedroom, Brady asked Kristen about the real reason for her visit. With a scowl, Kristen said she had heard about Johnny’s arrest. Brady filled Kristen in on the details leading up to the arrest.
“Roman and Marlena thought that they were doing what was best for Johnny,” Brady said. “What about what’s best for Rachel? My god, what were you thinking, telling her about Johnny being arrested without talking to me first?” Kristen complained. Brady reminded Kristen that she had not consulted him before she had told EJ about Rachel having witnessed Johnny with the gun. Brady added that the police would want to talk to Rachel, so she would have learned about Johnny’s arrest regardless.
Kristen argued that EJ would break his promise about Rachel Blake because Rachel had told Marlena about Johnny. “There is nothing that is going to stop [EJ], Brady,” Kristen worried aloud. Kristen told Brady that she was worried that EJ would go after both her mother and her daughter. “So now you agree that EJ could harm our daughter?” Brady asked. Kristen said she did not know.
After a moment, Brady said he believed EJ would not harm Rachel. Brady told Kristen that Johnny had claimed not to have fired the gun, and that Marlena believed Johnny. With a groan, Kristen pointed out that Johnny was Marlena’s grandson. As the argument grew heated, Rachel walked in and screamed, “Stop fighting!” Rachel made her parents apologize to one another.
Rachel suggested they watch a scary movie together. Midway through the movie, Brady deemed it too scary. Brady promised to finish it the next night if Rachel wanted to stay a couple more days. Kristen approved. With a grin, Rachel asked Kristen to stay at the penthouse too. Before Brady could answer, Tate returned home. “Want to join us?” Brady said. Kristen took Rachel into the kitchen so that Brady and Tate could talk. Brady told Tate about Johnny’s arrest.
Johnny was sitting in the interrogation room at the police precinct when Chanel stopped by with a change of clothes for his arraignment. Chanel complained about how Paulina had not intervened to stop Johnny’s arrest, but Johnny said he understood. “She’s doing her job,” Johnny said. Johnny admitted that he was relieved that his secret was out in the open.
“You walked away from [shooting EJ] and that is all that matters,” Chanel said. “I couldn’t agree more,” EJ said as he entered the room. EJ asked to talk privately with Johnny, but Chanel refused to leave. Johnny agreed with Chanel. EJ announced that Judge Grafton had approved EJ to serve as Johnny’s lawyer. “Just because you convinced some judge to bend the rules does not mean this is a good idea,” Chanel said. Chanel warned Johnny not to let EJ serve as his lawyer.
“I do need some kind of representation,” Johnny said. When EJ argued he was the best choice, Chanel countered that EJ was both the victim and the father of the defendant. EJ said that Judge Grafton had agreed with him that it was not a conflict of interest. “Until you get your law degree, you can keep your opinions to yourself,” EJ said. “Dad,” Johnny said. With a sigh, EJ apologized to Chanel. EJ told Johnny that he was the best choice because the jury could not ignore that the victim was representing the accused.
“The jury will see that [EJ] has an obvious motive to lie,” Chanel argued. “But he’s not lying. He believes that I’m innocent,” Johnny said. Chanel reminded EJ that he had not remembered who had shot him. “So you can’t actually say who it was one way or the other,” Chanel said. Johnny told Chanel that he valued her opinion, but he believed that EJ was his best option. Johnny hired EJ.
After EJ stepped outside, Johnny apologized to Chanel. “If this is what you think is best, then I support your decision,” Chanel said. Chanel told Johnny to focus on himself, and she would make sure that EJ did not step out of line. While Johnny changed clothes, Chanel stepped into the hall to talk to EJ. “You really believe that you’re the best person to do this?” Chanel asked. EJ said yes. EJ cautioned Chanel not to talk to her mother about the case.
“That’s one thing that we both agree on. The way I see it, Johnny made a deal with the devil,” Chanel growled. Chanel added that she stood by Johnny’s decision and would not interfere. “My advice to you: Don’t make Johnny choose between us. Because if you do, you will regret it,” Chanel said. EJ secured Johnny’s release on bail.
