Black Clover is full of characters who play minor but important roles. One of these characters is Neige. He may not be a major villain or hero, but his actions always leave a strong impact. Neige first appears early on in the series (episode 30), and his presence is accompanied by a lot of conflict in the story of Black Clover.

Neige is a young boy with long white hair and a soft voice. In Black Clover, he is depicted as shy and lonely because of his lack of friends. He follows his older brother, Baro, and helps him execute a very wrong plan. Baro and Neige kidnap children for the Eye of the Midnight Sun.

In Black Clover, Neige uses his Snow Magic to hypnotize the children and lead them to caves. His magic is strong, and it allows him to create spaces with a barrier of snow that hides them from outside view. It was in this place that the children were kept. This act causes fear and trouble in the area. But Neige does not fully understand the gravity of his actions and carries out tasks assigned to him by his sibling.

Even though Neige takes part in illicit actions, it is quite evident that he is not evil. He is just lost and looking for someone to care about him. He is kind on the inside but afraid to stand up against his brother. He follows Baro because he is scared of being alone and wants someone to accept him. This makes Neige more of a misunderstood person as opposed to a villain. It demonstrates how people end up making bad choices when they feel weak and unloved.

When Asta, Gauche, and the other Magic Knights arrive to stop the kidnappers, we get a glance at his real self. Asta fights against Baro while Gauche takes on Neige. The two brothers lose, but Neige confesses that he just wanted some friends.

After their defeat, Baro is still aggressive. After Sally heals him, he turns into a mud monster and attacks Neige, his brother. Asta defends him, and Gauche assists in taking him down. Baro attacks again, and this time, Neige steps in to defend the Magic Knights. At this point, everyone can see that Neige is nothing like Baro. He does not enjoy hurting others, but is just confused and scared.

This moment affects Neige’s heart, and he begins to introspect on his actions. He turns himself in and asks Asta if they can be friends. Black Clover uses this event to illustrate that everyone is capable of change. Neige begins to feel guilty about his actions. He witnessed the pain of the children and realized the consequences of his actions.

The use of Snow Magic also makes Neige stand out in Black Clover. Snow Magic is not common in the series. The magic affinity fits him and lends him a soft, cold feeling that matches Neige’s quiet and lonely personality. This match between his magic and emotions adds a nice touch to his role in the story.

Themes Neige Represents in Black Clover

This small character arc in Black Clover makes the story more emotional. It shows that the world is not just full of good heroes and bad villains. There are people like Neige who make bad choices because of fear, sadness, or loneliness. But they can also change, with a little hope and kindness.

Neige may not be part of the main team or involved in every big fight, but his story fits perfectly within Black Clover. Representative of a blank slate in the story, Neige is fundamentally neither good nor evil. Characters like Neige position themselves on the spectrum of good or evil depending on who they are surrounded by.

If they are around people who commit crimes or do evil, they will also go down the same path. But if surrounded by nice, nurturing, and loving people, they would become the kindest people as well. Unfortunately for Neige, he was around his brother Baro, who was a bad person. Neige's arc also mirrors how children and young kids and their psyches function and adapt according to the people around them.

Conclusion

In the end, Black Clover shows that Neige’s story is about kindness. The show has a lot of magic and fighting, but there is also a theme of never giving up and second chances. Neige sets forth an example that sometimes people end up engaging in evil things for a reason. And most times, they just need a chance to become better.
