Without a doubt, one of the most mysterious and unknown characters in mangaka Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga is Imu. Virtually all fans know for sure that they are from the Void Century and are the true rulers of the World Government. Fans also knew that they wielded an ability similar to a Zoan-type Devil Fruit, but its exact nature has yet to be specified.

However, that has all changed in recent weeks as Imu has gotten involved in the Elbaph Arc’s events and begun displaying their powers. One of the most significant and impressive has been their ability to possess the bodies of their subordinates. This was shown via doing so with Holy Knight Gunko, and presumably applies to other Holy Knights and the Gorosei.

Even if the limitations of this ability are even narrower than the above presumptions, it’s nevertheless one of the most terrifying in One Piece. However, this is far from the only power Imu has recently displayed; in fact, the latest spoilers for chapter 1150 claim that Imu is even able to use their Conqueror’s Haki through Gunko while possessing her body.

Moreover, Imu’s Conqueror’s Haki is seen to be both incredibly powerful and have a massive range in the latest spoilers for the series. It’s shown to cover a significant portion of the area, which makes up Elbaph’s Sun World. Excitingly, there are even more terrifying abilities and powers Imu wields in the latest spoilers, setting them up as one of the series’ strongest fighters.

Imu’s powers and abilities are One Piece’s most frightening and impressive yet

The first major ability and power Imu shows in the latest One Piece spoilers is the sudden growth of large black wings and a devilish tail from Gunko. They’re also seen suddenly holding a trident. This suggests that Imu’s true identity is both of a devilish nature and that they can manifest these traits in those they possess.

They’re also seen telepathically communicating with the Holy Knights; however, this ability was previously displayed during Saint Jaygarcia Saturn’s death. They also seem to be capable of using some kind of magic. This is evidenced by their conjuration of a spell book with a pentagram symbol on it, and the summoning of weapons from within the spellbook’s pages.

The latest One Piece spoilers also show them using the spellbook to create a pentagram circle underneath Brogy, Dorry, and several other Giants. After using an ability called “Domi Reversi,” Imu has them swallowed up by the circle and takes a portion of their lifespan. In exchange, the target receives immortality and great strength, to the point where their physical features change.

Examples of these changes include devilish features such as wings, fangs, and horns, a general size increase, and even the alteration of weapons. Those affected also seemingly lose their personalities, as evidenced by Dorry and Brogy attacking the Giants. Imu is also implied to be able to take control of other Holy Knights’ abilities by altering Killingham's dream monsters.

In summation

Imu’s most noteworthy abilities in One Piece include Conqueror’s Haki, the apparent ability to possess their subordinates, and a transformation akin to a Zoan-type Devil Fruit. In addition, they’re also seemingly capable of wielding some kind of dark magic. This dark magic appears to be able to grant immortality, and is also what allows them to exert control over others.
