No one deserved a better ending than All Might in My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia is an anime manga series that I have been following for a long time. It has introduced a plethora of characters, but among them, there is one who I believe got a perfect closure to their story. Toshinori Yagi, better known as All Might, was once a symbol of peace, and he relentlessly gave his best to ensure that even during the darkest hour, people didn't lose their calm.

He was one of the pillars who was responsible for fighting against anyone who posed a threat. Additionally, All Might's journey in My Hero Academia can be described as nothing less than a masterclass in selflessness, duty, and sacrifice. For the longest time, I was worried about how his character was going to be treated, especially after giving his powers to Deku.

Fortunately, what he received was more meaningful than any dramatic send-off: a peaceful conclusion that honored everything he gave. From the moment Toshinori Yagi decided to inherit the power of One for All, his fate was sealed. The intense journey from becoming All Might and being burdened with keeping his powers a secret while fighting against the strongest villain, All for One, must have been exhausting.

Where All for One was plotting to crumble the world and rule over it, All Might became the hope and foiled all his plans. What makes All Might’s story so powerful is that his journey was never about personal gain. Moreover, his rise to becoming the No. 1 Pro Hero was neither designed nor calculated. He was genuine about his actions, and everyone recognized him for that.

And once he did become the Number One Hero, he never showed weakness. Even after his body physically stopped supporting him, or even if he had a little ember of the power left, All Might gave it all for the betterment of the world. He continued to say, “I am here!” even when his time as a true fighter had all but ended.

In My Hero Academia, even after losing all his strength and power fighting All for One, he could have retired, but he chose to be a teacher. While being aware that he would not be able to partake in battles did not stop him from being the best mentor to students of U.A High School.

Finally, being the Number One Hero in a world like My Hero Academia is not a glamorous title. It’s a constant state of being under a microscope. A demand for perfection. A call to be everywhere, all at once, while never showing weakness. All Might did it alone for decades.

At the end of My Hero Academia, All Might is now shown to be in his old age and continues to support everyone, especially Deku, as much as he can. But now he is not burdened with responsibilities, and after a really long time, All Might gets to be Toshinori Yagi again.

Being the No.1 Pro Hero is the toughest job in My Hero Academia

To be on top of the ranking as a Pro Hero in My Hero Academia might sound like a glorious job, although in reality, it is far from that. All Might, for years, worked hard without taking any breaks.

This has also been noticed during My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, where, at a moment's notice, he dived to save people in need while he was in the middle of a conversation about how much he wants to rest.

He was bleeding internally, hiding his injuries with smoke and mirrors, and dragging his deteriorating body through one crisis after another. And he never once complained.

Yes, it was upsetting that he had to retire after being out of commission. I would rather see All Might old than dead. So when the story of My Hero Academia finally began to give him peace, it felt like justice.
