Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 13 might just be the twist that fans were bracing themselves for. Since this spin-off series started, readers knew what they signed up for when it was established that Gege Akutami is writing this story. One thing everyone knew about this creator was his infamous habit of showing fleeting moments of peace and shattering them with unavoidable catastrophe.

The same happened in this chapter, as it dealt with the aftermath of Cross (twin brother of Maru) being shot. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 13 showed us how terrifying Dabura is and what he could truly be capable of. Right now, the political tension is off the charts, which has set up the foundation for a future duel between the humans and the Simurians.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 13, we are shown Cross under medical care. Meanwhile, Maru is getting caught up on the events and is trying to make sense of what just happened to his brother. Oski is being stubborn and is not ready to differentiate between curses and Kalyans, and is hell bent on making humans stop purging these curses.

It is getting clear that the idea of coexistence is getting bleaker by the minute. But for now, it is not confirmed if Cross is alive or dead, and without a proper confirmation, it is difficult to determine the next step after Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 13. We are shown that there is a new Jujutsu doctor, and she gives similar vibes to Shoko. She confirms that it is impossible to heal Cross, although the lore behind it is unclear.

Dabura arrives: A force beyond classification

The chapter goes on a small flashback that talks about the events after Cross was shot. Dabura makes an entrance, and we know that some disaster is in the making. His aura alone is enough to send a shiver down anyone's spine. Usami tried to use his cursed speech, but Dabura is on another level and continues to walk towards the person responsible for the shooting. He easily ends up slicing the arm of the shooter like it was a piece of cake.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 13, he demands a sacrifice in return, but is interrupted by Usami. He collapses on his knees, begging Dabura to spare everyone and give diplomacy another chance. Surprisingly, it works, and he walks away for now. This scene proves one thing that this addition to the story makes Dabura scarier than Sukuna.

Time skips, rising tensions, and Yuji’s tragic reveal

After Dabura leaves, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 13 jumps forward several times, each by about a month. During these jumps, we are shown that the cursed spirits begin flooding out of Tokyo because Jujutsu Headquarters temporarily halts all exorcisms. The Simurians claim they can hear cursed spirits in a way sorcerers can’t, suggesting a unique connection to curses that may alter the balance of power.

The biggest twist arrives in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 13 when the story cuts to Nobara, who is now elderly, likely in her 80s. She reveals two things that Megumi is dead, and Yuji disappeared after the funeral, as he does not want to attend any more of those, as he no longer ages. This confirms previous speculation: Yuji’s body, crafted as the ultimate Sukuna vessel, no longer follows normal human aging.

The Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 13 ends with the Simurians issuing an ultimatum. This duel system was previously introduced in Chapter 9, and all signs pointed toward Yuji being chosen to fight Dabura. Instead, the sorcerers make a baffling decision: They have chosen Yuka.

One thing that readers are left to wonder about is why pick someone terminally ill, with only weeks left to live, and nowhere near Dabura's power level? This chapter does not explain, but only a final page that leaves fans confused, nervous, and desperate for answers.

Final thoughts

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 13 is a turning point as it is full of emotion, politics, fear, and unpredictable twists. Fans are already bracing for the fallout of Yuka vs. Dabura, a battle that seems doomed before it even begins.
